Great movie, shows how civilians pay the price for cowards who hide in the dark (Iraqis) and other cowards (Marines) who kill women and children.

Superb, powerful and realistic film. Probably one of the best battle films of recent years.

Well looks like a big Propaganda film like Platoon showing what a bunch of out of control troops we have that shoot through doors, and what a bunch of good people that were over there.

11/9/15 Netflix. A very interesting and detailed movie that gives a look at the effects of war on troops, civilians and enemy fighters. Again, the common people from all sides suffer the consequences of decisions made by people in high and safe places. This movie has the feel of a documentary and is much more effective because it has no recognizable Hollywood actors. The ending was a little disappointing because it did not show the resolution of the investigation and what happened to all involved.

Even though this was low budget, the filmmakers handled the film with care as its based on a true story that is quite profoundly disturbing. Not for everyone but indeed an important film

Good war film. Feels like a documentary, which makes it more real. Marines will love it!

This film has some really great cinematic moments, and a powerful, brutal story to tell, but it's a rather spotty viewing experience thanks to how it's told. I think the documentary style works against the film, which would have been better with a cinematic tone to drive home the emotional empathy and power of the story. It's greatest weakness, though, is a preachy expositionary tone, which works against the documentary style. Too much is explained by characters in unnatural dialogue and the horrific war crimes, impactful enough on their own, are followed by clunky monologues to drive home the point, robbing scenes of their power. Also, mediocre acting doesn't help the shaky dialogue. It's a real shame, because "Battle for Haditha" makes a valiant effort to humanize *all* involved in the tragedy, but these nagging issues of form prevent it from reaching the heights it could have.

Read an interesting review by an ex-marine and there are enough deficiencies in the portrayal of the marines in action to detract from the movie. Not just their general demeanour but technical operational issues too. That aside, the film tried to portray the circumstances leading to this terrible event but failed to develop the characters of the marines sufficiently to explain their actions and was unduly sympathetic towards the insurgents. The latter suggested the writing of someone imaging what they would be feeling rather than knowing. Ultimately it did nothing to tell us why this tragedy unfolded in the way it did except with some crude, broad brush stroke explanations.

Usually movies about historical events or incidents are long, drawn out yet very good movies. This one is in is a historical incidents but one that falls into none of the catergories above. It is pretty short, not to interesting till after the attack, which take place at the end of the film and the attack just wasnt very good. The sound effects for the attack where dull, and not at all as intense as other modern movies. Instead it's more like what you see and hear when you watch the making of a movie, or a documentary, so that's a letdown. For characters, the acting is good, filled with swearing and shouting, but there isn't any depth in any of the characters except the one main soldier who we actually know. The stories about the bomber and the woman just weren't as interesting as the soldiers story, and the soldiers story is problably the most true to what happened. It also just dosent cause the emotional reaction the director was hopping for, ya it was sad and cruel how the soldiers killed the civilians, but the film just doesn't make it as a sad as it could have been. So ok movie, but not great by any means.

Battle for Haditha isn't the usual war movie. It follows a true story about a group of marines and how they killed 24 innocent Irapi civilians after an I. E. D. attack. The movie is interesting since it follows three different perspectives: the marines, the terrorists, and the civilians. The first 45 minutes are mostly pointless, filled with some sub-par acting and some very slow pacing. However, it's the latter half of the movie that makes this good. It isn't easy watching a group of marines killing a bunch of innocent people, but the film does it in such a way that you can somewhat understand why they did what they did. The film reminds me of Apocalypse Now, since they can both be considered pro-war in some parts, and anti-war in others. Overall, despite its flaws, Battle for Haditha is a film that deserves to be watched.

The absurdity of the reality it depicts made it really hard for me to watch. Best war movie I have seen so far.

The Battle for Haditha is a film about how US marines brutally murdered a number of randomly chosen unarmed Iraqi families in retaliation for an exploded roadside bomb; a gruesome re-enactment of the My Lai Massacre.

it was a pretty good war movie, it shows how hatred for the US can spark.. for an act that should of never happened. The killing of innocent kids was pretty sickening. Its debatable what actually happened, but this movie did a good job of portraying how things may of happened.

Extremely hard to watch... not very good... and yet... worth watching

This movie was a departure from the facts. It gives a great dishonor to the Marines that were there. As a movie is was alright but they should not have tried to rewrite history

As a military veteran myself, I really got into this film. This movie gives you an alternate view into some of the lives of those who may have been affected by this event. Since it was classified as a cover-up, this drama gives the viewer an idea of what might have happened, along with leaving the viewer thinking about what these Marines go through.

Vietnam spawned a number of great films. The ones that were more compelling were those that showed life after that conflict. We haven't reached that stage yet with Gulf War vets but the great films on the morality of the battlefield continues with the Battle for Haditha. It is another tale of the decisions that we make when faced with a strange environment with the threat of death overhanging.

Without a doubt the most realistic warmovie I have ever seen. Without ever compromising on its clear stand against the occupation, it reflects the diversified character of events and the nuances on all sides without trying to take a neutral stand. Should be for the Iraq war what Platoon and Apocalypse Now was for the Vietnam war. A clear showing of the brutality and wrongness of the USA occupation.

An investigation of the massacre of 24 men, women and children in Haditha, Iraq allegedly shot by 4 U.S. Marines in retaliation for the death of a U.S. Marine killed by a roadside bomb. The movie follows the story of the Marines of Kilo Company, an Iraqi family, and the insurgents who plant the roadside bomb.
