CodyZamboni Z Movie is trashy and campy, But never boring. Talented cast give their hammy all in this struggle for control of an auto company, Godfather Part 2 type flashback narrative structure works well for this movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Jithin K Basically a 70s soap opera condensed into two hours. There are a lot of sex scenes which if they'd decided to make it a bit more lengthy, could've been a softcore porn. Heck, the 70s porn industry known to be in its golden age would've made a better film out of this same story. The degeneracy of the filthy rich shown might be true but then it should be shown as that or the characters should be given some depth. Here it's neither and it ends up almost hilariously bad. With a stellar cast like Laurence Olivier, Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, etc, the cast is very charming and the actresses also try their best to be way better than what's on paper just with their natural charm and it did work to a point. But the writing is so bad that nothing is enough to salvage this mess and the male actors seemed to know it better as they didn't really try to bring out their acting chops, just their charming side. But when the movie wants the audience to be sympathetic to the characters or want to be invested in their emotions, romance, heartbreak, greed, etc, it comes off as very absurd. The only thing you really feel is disgust but the music and the visual composition are asking to side with those characters. If the film wants us to side with them, it needs to show somewhat relatable aspects for it. When the most charitable thing a character does is give an enormous amount of money to a young girl for sleeping with him without her asking him, it's just absurd, that they expect the audience to be sympathetic to his other actions, however pragmatic and well-intentioned they seem. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/25 Full Review Ronnie M This movie was so hard to watch...I really like most of the cast. This movie really sucks Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Blu B It's sooooo boring. The editing and pacing is terrible and everything else isn't good. The direction is terrible half the time and at best basic the rest. Like there is tons of production value in this and has a epic story across generations across a family empire and yet it's so boring to look at. No camera movement, never any close ups just the most basic point the camera where everything is type of stuff. Than the acting my god it feels like either people aren't trying, emotionless, or sleepwalking through this. No one really has any chemistry. The music is so sappy and dreary and doesn't help things at all. My god I swear it's the same violin orchestra track and I wish it would just stop. The out of order storytelling also really doesn't do anything to help, isn't clear why it's done that way, and makes things so difficult to follow. Than on top of that it jumps around between Duvall, Jones, and Young/Old Olivier and it's so difficult to follow on top of being bored out of your mind. This reminds me of films like Bloodline and the Last Tycoon but mixed with Bobby Deerfield. And that's not a good thing. The whole plot of making the car with the family drama, Oliviers life, the romances with Jones all never gel. There is so much pointless dragged out sex scenes in this too. They all wanna screw Jones. I will say then ending is probably the best thing but even that's just alright and it still doens't make it remotely worth sitting through 1 Hour 40 minutes to get to it. Not even cloe even if it does make everything that happened make sense. The rest is just so poorly done. Skip This. What a waste. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Laurence Olivier trying to imitate a Midwest Tycoon must be the all time worst accent in any film ever. It is worth watching the movie just to see how incredibly bad Olivier can be. I wish I could find some kind of YouTube clip or something like that with him showing off his acting chops in the film. Incredibly bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Vintage 70s kitsch. A very young Tommy Lee Jones (voted best hair).
