Birds Without Names is a great piece of work from director Kazuya Shiraishi, that not only succeeds as a great romantic drama but as an actors showcase for all involved, especially Yu Aoi, who gives her best performance yet.

Heroine is not especially likeable as she goes through life making people as miserable as she is and falling for unsuitable men despite having a loyal, if uncouth, boyfriend. I saw this as part of the Japanese film festival and very much enjoyed it.
