Black Christmas Reviews
This movie wasn't what I expected. The first half was more of a comedy. The obscene calls were deliciously twisted and vulgar. It went into full horror mode in the last 30 minutes.
Boring and rubbish. This movie was not scary at all.
While It can be boring I do like how the ending is left ambiguous and how the killer is still on the loose. I think it's a good film but could be a little more entertaining.
I am not a big fan of the old school slashers. Even Halloween was very boring to me. But of all the ones I've seen, this one wasn't too bad. It is funny and actually somewhat scary as well, and has fairly sympathetic and interesting characters.
I thought it was ok. Maybe it was too overhyped, I dunno. Rating: 4.5/10
This movie truly is one of the creepiest and horrifying movies ever imo and holds up 50 years later against anything put out today. For sure the most horrifying Christmas movie ever Only a handful of movies have ever given me the chills and this is one of them. The killer was absolutely diabolical. Bib Clark did an amazing job with this movie.
A great classic Christmas horror flick. Margot Kidder is excellent... and gorgeous.
A little dated but effective horror flick.
Off-putting movie try Blobbo patience. Finally give up trying, turn off, put attention better use.
If this picture doesn't make your skin crawl... it's on TOO TIGHT. Black Christmas is a 1974 Canadian slasher film produced and directed by Bob Clark ๐ Itโs good ๐ Worth a watch. Iโd recommend it if you like this genre ๐๐ผ It takes a while to get going, but the suspense definitely builds towards the endโฆ As the residents of the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority house prepare for the festive season, a stranger begins to harass them with a series of obscene phone calls.
I been wanting to see this movie for a long time did not disappoint me the score i really liked it. It felt scary i haven't really been on edge in a slasher in a while the main character got better overtime the house is very iconic and how it's filmed just felt like actual filmmaker made the movie and editing is what i really liked the ending i liked how the villan won even tho not really because jess is still alive
Such a strong film. Really set the slasher genre going and the structure and scenes from the killers perspective are a good way to get multiple view points in the film. The ending with everyone realising the killer is in the house is now popular everywhere showing how much of an impact this film has had.
Really scary movie, good classic slasher with an interesting story, characters are loveable and interesting and the whole movie gives you a really homely feel
What's really interesting is that while the movie may have started a number of tropes, just about everything still feels fresh and terrifying. There are so many odd little quirks here (the filmmakers were unafraid of humor) that makes the movie feel anything but ordinary.
This Movie never gets enough credit for its role in helping to create the slasher genre, as it came out even before Halloween. It has a lot of the elements that would later become prominent in slashers and it executes them all fairly well. For being one of the first in its field, its not bad at all.
Incredible performances all around, the cast all keep themselves grounded in reality while also delivering the films more comedic lines with great effect. Overall ground breaking for the horror genre as a whole and a must see holiday cult classic.
Tense slasher film. Keep in mind this was pre Halloween 1974 when this came out.
It's amazing how a horror film nearly 50 years old can produce more genuine tension and suspense than virtually anything made for today's cinemagoer. Filmmakers such as John Carpenter and Quentin Tarantino have praised it publicly, and after seeing it, I can understand the acknowledgements. One can clearly see how this influenced future movies such as HALLOWEEN and WHEN A STRANGER CALLS. I'm not generally a horror movie fan, but this is the way I like them - low on blood and gore, high on intrigue and psychological drama. There are a couple familiar faces among the cast, my favorite being a pre-Lois Lane Kidder who excelled at the type of character she portrays here. The beautiful Hussey is also a quietly strong protagonist and an engaging screen presence. The moments of levity feel organic rather than forced and are a welcome respite to the heavier scenes. I normally love an ambiguous ending, but I do wish there had been more clarity here. Other than that, there's not much to fault. It tickles me to no end that director Bob Clark would go on to make A CHRISTMAS STORY - possibly the two most opposite holiday themed films in cinema history.
An extremely creepy and unnerving film. With excellent performances especially Margot Kidder and Olivia Hussey. The best slasher film hands down
Disturbing & uncomfortably creepy. I loved it!
