Mark H. Harris Black Horror Movies I would call Bleeding Rose a supernatural whodunit, except if you look at the DVD cover, it doesn't exactly take CSI to guess whodunit. Audience Member This came as one of six straight-to-DVD horror flicks packages together and sold at the supermarket. safe to say, my expectations were low. This gets an extra half star for trying very hard, being accidentally funny on occasion, and making good use of extremely limited resources. it also wasn't blatantly offensive or exploitative, so that's always nice. Still, even in a low budget movie, there's no excuse for such a sloppy script. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member The best film in a collection of 8 horror films, Bleeding Rose has an interesting if unknown cast of mostly African Americans and is the story of an attractive young woman who meets up again with someone she knows, who is in the music industry. The woman has escaped an abusive relationship with a caucasian and yet she still feels she'd rather not be with men from her own cultural background. This person she reconnects with offers her an audition and she accepts. She has nightmares about her ex-boyfriend and other things then there are killings that occur and it turns out that possession is part of the way that the killer commits their acts. This is a weird psycho-thriller-murder-whodunit. 8/10 "Roman" (not found here on flixster) is a film of a welder who lives alone and watches for a beautiful woman to pass in view of his window (when she goes to pick up her mail). He isn't as much a stalker or voyeur so much as painfully shy (he has trouble getting along with coworkers). The film blends drama with fantasy (in fantasy scenes) of the social misfit encountering a gorgeous and nude woman (perhaps the woman he is watching each day?). Subtle, sexy voice-overs are layered over/within scenes (there is also a neighbour who is the landlord and he watches pornography, his television's volume very loud). She visits him in his suite and then when he wants her to stay longer (she has to leave) he basically overpowers her and throttles/smothers her to death. He doesn't react as we might expect, indeed it appears that he is revealed to be something of a psychopath. He keeps her in his suite and apparently manages to avoid detection by the police. Later he meets another attractive woman (she has a secret, she is fascinated by death) who annoys him perhaps. They end up in a romance and then one day he comes to her apartment to find that she has killed herself. Even as he is mourning her, the landlord discovers him with her even as he seems to incriminate himself by making it seem he murdered her. Very surreal and tragic. 7/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
