5.0/10 — "Poor"/"Inferior"/"Amateurish"

This is really fine work by first time (full-length feature) director Eskil Vogt, known mainly as a screenwriter. Vogt has written/co-written each of Joachim Trier's full-length films. Ellen Dorrit Petersen, Henrik Rafaelsen, Vera Vitali, and Marius Kolbenstvedt are terrific as the four principal characters. Jessica Kiang wrote a very sharp, insightful review of the movie on Indiewire.com. 3.8 stars

Very easy movie & Alec, Demi, and Dylan were all great!! Really enjoyed it - was worried after reading Washington post - but did not need the naked scenes to understand what was going on!! For me it was a really enjoyable movie !

Narratively playful psychosexual fantasy - goes a bit silly for my taste, but an interesting watch.

Norwegian language with subtitles It is a surreal art film from writer Eskil Vogt who also did 'Oslo, Aug 31st'. It opens with Ingrid, an attractive young woman who has recently become blind and her caring husband, Morten. She narrates the film as a voice-over. She struggles to cope with her situation, as she bangs into things in the kitchen. Her days are spent alone in the flat as she is too scared to go out or go to any social event with her husband. She has a wild sexual imagination with a dose of jealousy, which has only increased with her lack of sight. She is convinced that her husband is chatting on an online dating site rather than just typing an email right next to her in bed and that he sometimes sneaks into the flat to look at what she's doing. Then it segues to a lonely porn obsessed man, Einar, who desperately wants a real relationship. The third lead character is a newly divorced young mother, Elin, who has her son only on weekends. Each one is desperately lonely in different ways. Einar and Morten happen to meet in a cinema and as they are former college friends they go to chat in a café. But then things go distinctly odd as they are suddenly chatting on a train, then they are back in the café again. What on earth is going on? The husband has a one night stand with Elin - or does he? And whilst meeting for the first time and chatting in a bar, Elin is suddenly blind, then she's not. This disjointedness continues for quite a while with increasingly outlandish situations involving Elin and Morten. You can't tell what's real and what isn't. Without wanting to spoil the story, towards the end of the film it becomes apparent what is going on. You can take the film as an abstract exploration of jealousy, sex, intimacy and motherhood. - or not! It is an excellent, unusual art film.

O que qualquer trabalho gostaria de ser: criativo, experimental e muito bonito. Ótimo roteiro, inovações estruturais e grande preocupação estética alinha à visão da protagonista.

Extraordinary study of isolation and identity that manages to be surprisingly comical and uplifting without ever feeling contrite.

This film delves deep into the realms of sexual fantasy, and creates an effective blurred reality.

"Cerebral and enigmatic" the critics said. "A bit weird", uncultured Berni said!

Insecurity and imagination are mashed together when Ingrid loses her sight. Creatively told and a powerful visual depiction of our imaginations, "Blind" will keep you intrigued and guessing throughout.

Puzzling, fascinating, haunting, interesting, and comedic at different moments throughout.

Nordic directors have penchant for dragging things around like a dead corpse for two hours.

Norweigan film is a very promising directorial debut for Eskil Vogt (The co-writer of Oslo, August 31rst and Reprise), who gives viewers a cinematic view of a novel-esque narrative. Blind could have simply been about a woman ailing with a disability, but Vogt gives it another layer by including a story-within-a-story, and the film makes transgressions towards showing how reality influences art. Sublimely shot and edited, this film feels like the work of an auteur, and even if it's a tad anti-climactic in the end, it's playful and enlightening tone are liable to stay stuck in your head for days. Hopefully Eskil will only continue to make films this potent.

With its opaque lighting and claustrophobic vibe, Blind is tragic and haunting. Alternating between sexy and heart-breaking, it is mind-boggling and moving. And with its refreshing and twisty plot, it leaves audience with an overwhelming responsibility of extracting truths and piece them together into a wonderful picture.

It's a clever idea and beautifully made, but it feels like a short story stretched to 90 minutes.

Interesting but weird.
