Bliss Reviews
I’d also like a hit of whatever the critics were smoking to rate this so highly—it was pretty bad. Terrible characters, lousy acting, obnoxious strobe effects, and dialogue ripped from tough-acting middle school boys. Annoyed at myself for waiting for it to get good through the entire movie. Never got there and had a Dumb ending
6/10. 62/100. | I swear if this movie causes a migraine within the next day or 2, I'm knocking at least .2 points from its rating. So much strobing it's ridiculous. And I felt this movie on a different level than most ppl would bc of 1 thing that shall not be named, but also the crave for creating art and getting fame and money from it. Or just appreciation really. It can be mentally draining putting in all the hard work, do a great job, but have little to no attention or appreciation for it. 😵 Creating art can be Murder.
Dora Madison as Dezzy gives it her all but in the end Bliss falls short in all departments for being a watchable film. Also what is with all the F-bombs? I thought Tony Montana in 1983s Scarface held the record but I guess not.
‘Bliss’ is an obscene parade of neon-drenched depravity filled to the brim with gore, sex, and more gore. Joe Begos’ hyper-charged exploitation style is on full, unbridled display, giving fans of raunchier, nastier horror exactly the kind of rush they crave, all capped off with some phenomenal practical effects.
Crazy on every level from start to finish. Only downpoint it sometimes looks like a tv movie but mostly the film has great visual ideas, an over the top cinematography, good directing and a lot of gory sexy creepy scenes with a very personal auteuristic approach that makes it an ovni of a movie. Will be deeply enjoyed by true genre fans.
Wow, I wish I was smoking whatever the folks reviewing this movie were smoking. I grimaced my way through this film, but could not believe how disjointed it was. I wanted to like it, but blech!
Brilliantly shocking and an ultimate gore fest! I loved the ascetic of the whole film.
Really enjoyed the film.
This is about as artsy as you can get . Didn’t enjoy it really at all . Acting wasn’t bad but I pretty much didn’t like anything else . 1.7. Reminds me of this French drugged out dance movie called climax
Ironically, I never expected a film called Bliss to be metal af. This movie is a balls to the wall, no holds barred bloodfest that's loud, trippy, and in your face. It takes you down the rabbit hole almost instantly and never lets go. Great music, game cast, inventive kills, and badass production. I've never been into vampires but this is an awesome film if you're looking for something dark but not scary. Wish I watched this with friends. My jaw was on the floor for the last 10 minutes, I loved this movie so much and I need to watch it again soon
This movie plays like a Yoko Ono album on 11, the main character is grating and pretentious I gave up on it minutes before I think may have been the climax because I just couldn’t stand it anymore and I have no regrets
If your life is a mess and you are suffering from anxiety, if you take drugs and alcohol, and of course if you like melted icecreams than this movie is for you
Sometimes drugs help you create art and stuff...sometimes they turn you into a person that wants to suck blood. Either way - skip the drugs.
If you like gore or want to see a bloody face tripping out for half the movie, the it’s for you
Bliss is try-hard, wannabe edgy attempt at counter-culture horror. While it flirts with some interesting ideas, the contrived execution is ultimately what fails it. Couple this with a lead character who is so annoying and entitled, she makes you want to scream in frustration and you have a failed, shallow attempt at decadence.
Unquestionably stylish, but the film suffers from a circular and, at times, monotonous plot. Good editing and interesting, hallucinogenic cinematography, but the sound mix overlaps the dialogue on several occasions, with somewhat frustrating results.
There was something very familiar about Bliss, in a good way. Watching it was kind of like... coming home.
DO NOT WATCH IF YOU SUFFER FROM EPILEPSY. Bliss isn't the easiest viewing experience. Graced with admirable and hallucinogenic imagery, it's a carefully crafted visual experience. The exploration of creativity and addiction pays homage to stylish vampire flicks like The Hunger and Near Dark. Begos perfectly showcases his abilities as a filmmaker and proves he has a creative way approaching familiar elements in horror.
