Breakfast at Tiffany's Reviews
Audrey Hepburn is adorable in the promotional stills of this film but the actual film itself is horrible. I don’t find it entertaining and all the characters are annoying. But I will still keep pictures and posters of her with her cat and diamonds.
A classic movie with a star-making turn by Audrey Hepburn in the main role.
An entire star removed for the performance of Mickey Rooney.
Interesting, but doesn’t quite hold up
Breakfast at Tiffany's is not exactly a classic, but it lives up to its reputation as an old-school romance. The transitional period that Hollywood was undergoing overloads Truman Capote's adapted story with contradictions, where the behavior of our protagonists is distorted in a whirlwind of glamorous and sophisticated suggestion, dividing the film in two: a light romantic comedy and a relatively explicit human drama that hides a background of vices and stigmatization.
Watched it and million times... I prefer this ending to the book.
Finally finished watching breakfast at Tiffany’s and I might need to visit haters corner but I was not the biggest fan of this one, Audrey Hepburn ooozes beauty and charm from the moment she pops up on screen she has a presence that is undeniable and she could have called me “Darling” anytime of the week…but boy was this a snooze fest, I felt no chemistry between Hepburn and peppard it has its moments when it wants to be charming which I can appreciate but how they made me feel for “Cat” instead of the romantic side of the movie more I will never understand & when I thought we were wrapping things up we still had and another hr left, also I’m 2 hrs in, why haven’t we had breakfast yet??!!
This film is a classic, probably mostly because of Audrey Hepburn. I did enjoy the scenes with the cat - some of the best uses of that animal I’ve seen in cinema. The Hepburn love interest is kind of a stiff, though, isn’t he? and that yellow face material with Mickey Rooney sure doesn’t age well at all. Apart from all that, this is a story about some bohemians living in New York in the 50s with loads of quirks and eccentricities and tons of great New York scenery, so if you are a New York-o-phile you should enjoy it.
Amazingly seductive, but, at the same time, morally vaccuous
I like old movies but this was terrible. Here is a list of things wrong with it. 1. Boring 2. Had no plot (If so it was flat) 3. Had no breakfast scene 4. Filmed poorly DO NOT WATCH ITS A WASTE OF TIME
Good film featuring Audrey Hepburn's greatest performance
Para llamarse desayuno con diamantes no los he visto desayunar en ningún momento.
A massive disappointment. The storyline is non-existent, the dialog is so fast at times you struggle to keep up. Yes Audrey might be great but this is no classic and the "chinese" landlord is very problematic in todays sensitivities.
It'd be easy for this movie to just be a typical romantic comedy. Thankfully, it is much more than that. Hepburn delivers a magnetic, charming, almost silly performance. She absolutely steals the show, and Peppard does a great job acting opposite of her. The two make a very fun and believable friendship-turned-couple. Not only that, but the movie is still very funny all these years later. Rooney's racially insensitive character can be pretty jarring, but don't let that stop you from watching this very fun and sweet film.
Directed by Blake Edwards and based on Truman Capote's novella, Breakfast At Tiffany's was released in 1961 and stars Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, an eccentric socialite with a fancy, yet not-so-fancy lifestyle who makes a new friend in George Peppard's new neighbor Paul. After the disarmingly unglamorous titular breakfast, Holly Golightly is presented to us as a beautiful, confident, likely wealthy and happy person but, as the movie develops, we see another side to her and dig a bit deeper into what makes her tick, revealing what is really going beneath the diamonds. Her new friend Paul goes through a similar arc, but with a key change of path later on. Framed as a romantic-comedy, this really is more of a romantic-tragedy as this character piece portrays a couple of layered and very human characters with relatable problems. This is not your traditional rom-com and is closer in spirit to the likes of The Apartment or The Seven Year Itch, which also had more modern approaches to exploring relationships between men and women, not shying away from pointing out the loneliness and the cruelty that can often underline them. Audrey Hepburn gives a complex performance as Golightly, perfectly capturing the character's manufactured persona and the real person within. She is gorgeous, of course, and very upbeat but visibly wounded and dealing with a lot internally. One iconic scene sees the character singing Henry Mancini's "Moon River" and playing guitar sitting by her window and that sequence alone tells you everything you need to know about who she is. Breakfast At Tiffany's is not without its problems, unfortunately. Mickey Rooney's caricature of a Japanese neighbor is racist and offensive, not to mention criminally unfunny. One can easily imagine a much better version of the film with his character removed entirely. This alone will turn off many viewers, understandably. Then there's the film's adaptation of Capote's text which takes many liberties, perhaps due to the times and pressure from the studio so if you're expecting a faithful movie version of the novella, this is not it. The characters, their relationship to each other, the settings and other elements are quite different here. That said, the film does manage to capture the right tone and convey the appropriate emotions really well, with a certain amount of depth. Nobody films a party quite like Blake Edwards and, indeed, the director gets plenty of chances to display that in this movie, which looks fantastic thanks to excellent art direction and slick cinematography. While not a perfect film, Breakfast At Tiffany's remains a must-see: the performances (with the aforementioned exception) are too good, the movie is too charming and the characters are too interesting to pass up. A flawed, yet unavoidable classic.
Adoro la banda sonora y a Audrey
Pile of shit film about a prostitute
The greatest 01 hour: and 55 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
