Brexit Reviews
If you need any more proof that the bourgeoisie are disconnected from the working classes, this pile of garbage is it.
A dramatic rendition of the surface consequences of political campaigns and the unseen effects of data analysis and the dangers they bring to the influence of the masses. This film entices a deeper interest in politics as well as the underlying effects at play. A mix of "The Social Network" and politics put into one movie, that eventually presents the dangerous consequence that underlying influences through personal online data can affect elections, beliefs, and an entire country.
A great adaptation on the horrible times that we live through. Made me laugh and seethe with anger. Excellent work by Benedict Cumberbatch.
Solid movie that gives goo insight into Brexit. Would recommend to watch for those interested in history/politics
Enlightening movie, must see to understand stuff happening nowadays.
Pretty interesting but mediocre movie starring Benedict cumberbatch. I didn't expect anything out of this movie but some interesting facts about the brexit and how it came to be. And I learned a lot from this movie but just as a movie critic I didn't get anything from the actors.
Brexit: The uncivil war was always going to be a controversial film, that bends the truth (much like Vice) but this one has impressive camera work, a mesmerising character in Dominic Cummings and seriously smart dialogue, which doesn't seem to push any certain view. Certainly a good film, especially because it is almost impossible to execute and admittley this film should have waited, to come out when the dust has settled. This curses he film with accelerated aging. A shame.
Captured the mood of referendum fever very well. Humorous yet moving in parts, especially with the reminder of Jo Cox's death. Cummings is a fascinating subject: as much a portrait of this "anarchist" as as it is a film of Brexit. Cumberbatch is good as Cummings, but the script given to him is a little too Sherlock at times.
Some fine performances from a very strong cast are hamstrung by a script and directorial style which largely paints in broad comedic brush strokes. When the tone needs to shift, it jars; and the character arc given to Dominic Cummings seems hopelessly fanciful in the light of more recent events. The whole thing, while entertaining, fails to learn the lesson it is trying to teach: the smugness of the political establishment and a patronising view of others (others who are represented, it seems, by just three characters with any meaningful dialogue.)
Good Movie and now Get Brexit Done !
"Sherlock" meets "The Social Network", and it works.
It makes you think not only about the discussions pro and anti-Brexit, but a new style in politics, and also how some troubles lead to others.
This is a remainer movie, made by remainers for remainers. Don't watch this for educational purposes. Incredibly biased movie.
How this referendum changed GB politics and people has been fooled is really crazy. Good movie to understand the process of mass being manipulated.
its not easy to recount political history with accuracy and without boredom -- Cumberbatch & Kinnear deliver a fine performance, but its very brit-centric, and you'd have to stomach Tory politics to appreicate it. Probably not for an American audience, until the very end....sigh.
