Bully Reviews

Nov 22, 2024

Raw, emotionally charged and hard hitting. "Bully" is a documentary film that examines bullying and the effects it has on today's youth. I think it was a daring endeavor for them to make this film. Because, it hit the nail on the head and it should have a mandatory screening for children as they enter adolescence because bullying in middle and high school is more serious and it often leads to suicide ideation. Bravo to everyone involved in the making of this documentary.

This movie turned out to be a very good movie. It has become a work that has been greatly enjoyed by the audience. I think that the work was born because of the director's poor thinking. It turned out to be a movie that I liked very much. I would like to thank the director and actors.

I felt like the characters in this movie could feel the happiness and difficulties that they faced in real life.

Filmmaker Lee Hirsch examines five cases of youths who endure vicious persecution at the hands of their peers. Ja'meye, 14, winds up in reform school after pulling a gun on the youths who tormented her for years. Cameras record the abuse suffered by 14-year-old Alex as he's beaten and teased on the bus. Star athlete Kelby, 16, is ostracized and worse after she comes out as lesbian. Most tragic of all, two boys, one 17 and one 12, commit suicide to escape the torture.

Such a good movie. Perfect.

I wish that none of us ever experienced the bully. Sad but good movie.

Bully is fully raw and left me broken. It is an extremely difficult watch and is an equally important one. It shows the actions, direct results, and the often flubbed responses to bullying in US schools and communities. The woman at Alex's school was so beyond awful at handling his case - it was heartbreaking. Whether you are a kid, have kids, or neither, Bully's message of community change through awareness is spot on especially in this case. The more we can make bullying a culturally damned practice, the less we'll hear the excuses like "kids will be kids," "my hands are tied," etc. and the more we'll have more people in positions of power who are willing to stand up and fight against it.

This movie hit all my heart strings. I was bullied so badly in school and am sitting here in tears because I felt all of their pain and frustrations. The young girl who brought a gun did exactly what she should've. I wish I did it. Kids are cruel. This movie is an absolute must watch for all kids.

Original, dramatic, & really for ages 13+ only; censoring, however (the swear words)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here was proof that teachers, administrators & parents need structured education in dealing with bullies.

A gripping story about bullying in our world. I really liked this movie, but it was a bit depressing seeing all of the horrid stuff kids do to each other. The movie also deals with suicide, so watch with caution.

If you have children in middle or high school or even have relatives in this age group, I urge you to make them watch the powerful documentary "Bully." This movie is extremely tough to watch but carries an essential message and genuinely seems to want to inspire real social change. One thing the movie could have explored more is the psychology of why some kids decide to bully others, but it tends to mostly hint at the cyclical nature of bullying. Besides that, I think the movie does a great job showing the consequences of continued bullying and they are often devastating. Overall, this is a gripping documentary with urgent and relevant subject matter.

Filmmaking Such As This Is An Absolute Rarity. It Is Incredibly Hard To Watch These Tragic Stories Play Out In Front Of Nieve, Ignorant & Dismissive Teachers, Administrative Staff & Some Parents. Such Lazy Attitudes Simply Condone Victimisation Of Those Whom Struggle. Why Do This?? In School Environments?? Where The Whole Class Should Be Supported To Achieve. Maybe It's A Throwback To Our Stone-Age Medieval-Man Mentality, Where Lord Of The Fly Like Beliefs Reign Supreme. Creates A World Of Racism, Hate, Pain & Suffering. No Love Or Joy To Be Found, No Matter How Much You Fall Back On Your Faith Or Homely Southern Values. You're All Lost Causes When Nobody Does Nothing...An Aloof Bystander As Bad As A Bully In My View.

So so very sad. Kids so young taking their own life. I think bullying has increased in the past 30 years and I think schools should be doing more to prevent bullying.

Bully does a good job showing how clueless teachers and administrators enable bullies. We see the devastating consequences from bullying on several children. The documentary, however, should have delved deeper into the pathos of bullies, and what society can do about it, rather than focus on a few victims.

Hard to watch, but should be mandatory viewing for parents, kids, and anyone in childcare or education

Bully has its fair share of emotional and poignant moments, but it's too one-sided and manipulative, and even questionable in a technical sense, to serve as an effective documentary.

This film is not that engaging. In fact, it could be argued that the makers are somewhat detached from the people featured in this film. At least it did show that there are a variety of reasons why kids get bullied.

Bully hits various different points of interest in the subject of bullying in American schools. While it relies heavily on the subject material to give them density, the film uses it professionally in both a social and political standpoint.

Good start to the conversationâ??and essential viewing for all students, parents and teachersâ??but kids deserve way better.
