Catch That Kid Reviews

Painfully bad. A real head-scratcher.

| Original Score: 1/5 | Dec 22, 2010

It's neither as funny as it needs to be nor serious enough to elicit more than a few crinkled brows from kids and their parents alike.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 15, 2004

This thing is so silly and so ridiculous.

| Feb 13, 2004

The story never really adds up.

| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Feb 9, 2004

| Original Score: C | Feb 7, 2004

Freundlich ... directs his first big studio film on autopilot, trudging through the motions and displaying little understanding of what appeals to young 'uns.

Full Review | Original Score: 0.5/4 | Feb 7, 2004

Gets more and more appalling the longer it goes on.

Full Review | Feb 7, 2004

A child bank robber heartlessly manipulates her two best friends and risks the lives of her friends, her baby brother, and everyone else. What were they thinking?

Full Review | Original Score: D- | Feb 6, 2004

Offers little in the way of originality, real excitement or even genuinely transgressive behavior.

| Feb 6, 2004

The movie isn't only boring; it's troubling.

| Feb 6, 2004

A tedious exercise that 6- to 10-year-olds may find mildly diverting.

Full Review | Feb 6, 2004

The young actors are irredeemably bland, and two of the adults are hammy enough to make James Brown seem controlled.

| Original Score: 1/4 | Feb 6, 2004

Everything about Catch That Kid is contrived.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 6, 2004

Despite its high concept, director Bart Freundlich keeps the film grounded in reality.

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Feb 6, 2004

Granted this is a kids' movie and disbelief must be suspended, but director Bart Freundlich never seems to find the tone he wants.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Feb 6, 2004

It's Bruckheimer for babies.

Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 6, 2004

The children are engaging yet the script and direction are not.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Feb 6, 2004

Do not catch Catch That Kid, unless your own kids threaten you with direct bodily harm. Even then you might want to skip it. They're little, the punches shouldn't hurt that much.

Full Review | Original Score: D | Feb 6, 2004

A misguided attempt at creating an adult-style heist movie with a pint-sized cast.

| Original Score: 1/4 | Feb 6, 2004

A miniaturized action pic.
