Cell Reviews
Spare yourself the headache
I was excited to find this movie it looked promising but man was i wrong
If not for John and Sam wouldn't have given it a moment of time.
This is a good “ junk food “ movie. John and Samuel are a good team and interesting if anything to watch.
Garbage. So many pointless scenes. Predictable. Expected better of the zombie action too. Not worth a watch.
Mild spoiler. Definitely not the greatest movie of all time but, it's watchable. Some of the choices the characters make are frustrating. I think that's with most movies of this nature, always have to keep themselves in a predicament. One thing that really bothered me is they didn't snag an abandoned car right away. Anyway if you like these kind of movies give it a watch. Personally it kind of reminded me of a better version of "Bird Box". One last thing, I thought it was funny in the airport when they were calling out flight information over the P.A. system, the flight number was "1408". Another John Cusack film. I wonder if that was coincidence or done on purpose.
Very disappointing adaptation of a great book. The plot is all over the place, it lucks suspense and feels very flat. Probably the worst King’s adaptation I’ve ever seen.
Reminds me of invasion of the body snatchers meets Ted meets Con Air. Fairly good. Gets right into action. Ending is a guess.
2016's 'Cell' is a Stephen King adaptation that somehow sneaked its way past me originally. SYNOPSIS: 'When a mysterious cell phone signal causes apocalyptic chaos, an artist is determined to reunite with his young son in New England.' You can tell this is a King adaptation because the story is so absurd. But absurd on the page can be very different to how it transfers into the big screen. I hope that is the case here. With it's two leading actors you should surely be able to create something coherent and watchable? Nope that's not the case. It's lifeless and sloppy and I'm sure King himself is very angry about this. Adaptations of this type not only tarnish his reputation but could easily go and halt the production of other adaptions of his works. It's not even so bad it's good. It's painful to watch. It's an all time low for King adaptations. 2/10
This movie had a really good concept and at the beginning it was really well executed. Halfway through the movie it slowed down so much it got boring and the ending just didn't make any sense. There were so many ways they could have ended it that would have made sense and made it a really decent movie but instead they left too many unanswered questions. I wanted it to be a good movie so bad, but it was really disappointing.
A violent start quickly gives way to a slow and disappointing film that ends up being just another zombie film with little to make it any different. Despite a screenplay by Stephen King, whose novel the film is based on, this is an extremely dull translation from book to screen. A great idea of wiping out the population by mobile phone is let down by a plodding script. A big let down.
Although this movie had good production value, the plot was unimaginative and obdslla waste of time. It's hard to believe they a ingot Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack to play in this .
Ok yes this is a poorly produced movie and actors are not great but I found the story to be interesting.
Wake Up! And read between the lines. Its 2023! So many movies tell you something but it's only those that are awake that see it. Watch and review it yourself.
Its a primary a sf with sense of horror/drama and mystery. Its not very clear what the message is, but sure worth looking. It made me think and shaky during scary parts. It cant be classified as a zombie movie.
Probably one of the most over hated movies I've seen. How does this pretty decent movie get so much hate when House 1977 gets praise? This movie is at least a movie with a plot and characters.
I understand why there was a lot of disappointment in the watching of this film by many readers of the popular Stephen King novel. It was well liked. For me, I never read the book and knew nothing about it. Therefore, I have no idea if it is true to the source material. It is an interesting concept that plays out like an unconventional Zombie movie. IT lacks two elements as a film that could have made it better- some humor and some real scares. The film has neither. What is does have is John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. Cusack is good. Jackson is always great; howler, he appears a little subdued in this film. The Direction is average. The effects ok. Stacey teach is good to see, but not good in this. There are interesting elements, but this is an attempt to cash in on Walking Dead.
this movie is just like a generic zombie movie except the zombies kept wanting to check twitter and attacking people, if it was supposed to be a scary movie, it just became a comedy movie because i was laughing the whole movie, and the girl who was with Tom McCourt and Clay Riddell looks like samara from the so-called, I don't recommend it.
I started with two stars then switched to the half after the confusing mess of a movie with its annoying ending. I only found this after watching 1408. Just another zombie movie with a twist that ruined anything positive about the film (not that there was much), not to mention it left many questions unanswered. This is now number one my list of the worst movies ever made. Don't waste your time on it. I'm sorry I did.
Interesting premise. The plot held up until it didn't, but the rest of the movie got going again.
