Audience Member Confessions of a Serial Killer is a 1985 American horror film based on the serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. The film was directed by Mark Blair and stars Robert A. Burns as Daniel Ray Hawkins. The story I found to be interesting and for the most part told in an understandable and gripping way, but sadly the first act of the film was a little tonally confused. The cast featuring Robert A. Burns, Dennis Hill, Berkley Garrett, Sidney Brammer, DeeDee Norton and Ollie Handley all did a steady job at portraying their characters, but unfortunately it never really seemed like any of them were ever giving it their all. The character of Daniel Ray Hawkins was intriguing and at points even fearsome, and I especially liked how his character dealt with his former crimes. The atmosphere I found to be quite strong, which helped with the disturbing nature and themes of the film. The film I found to be engaging and for the most part intriguing, but I don't think that I'll be watching it again for some time. Overall I give it a 6/10 - good film, would recommend to fans of American horror Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member First off, don't be fooled by the "Hannibal Lecter" copycat on the poster; it has absolutely nothing to do with the film. There are two versions of this movie: uncut and edited. Unfortunately, the original uncut version can only be found on the VHS release. I watched the edited version (while unaware of there being two different versions), and based on that, I thought this was a really great horror movie.....so much better than most "serial killer" movies out there. Robert A. Burns does a fantastic job portraying a creepy, cold-hearted killer. The film is gritty and understated, which makes it all the more terrifying. In the edited version, the killings are mostly left to the imagination of the viewer. I'm not sure how much more graphic and gory the uncut version is, but I hope it isn't too violent because that would take away from the creepiness of not knowing what exactly happens to some of the victims. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member wow umn not seen this movie in ages..its a low budget movie but its really enjoyable 2 watch...its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie...i think that the actor who played the serial killer in this movie played him really well because its was creepy the way he played the killer...i think that the director of this mystery/suspense/horror/drama movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie its an enjoyable movie 2 watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The subject matter is most interesting, however there won't be any Best Actor Oscars for this one!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Low budget but terrifyingly engaging. This is a true story so don't expect the inventiveness of a blockbuster.... just know it is REAL.... HARD MIND NUMBING STUFF Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Scared the life outa me.. TOO REAL.. ugh.. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
