Martial arts expert Detective Nick Chen (Chow Yun-Fat) teams up with his colleague Danny Wallace (Mark Wahlberg) to keep several gangs in New York City's Chinatown from annihilating each other. They must contend not only with the increasingly power-hungry gangsters, but also with the temptation of bribery and corruption as the bad guys divide and conquer the police forces. Not much to say about this one - low energy, formulaic film with no reason for being. Not sure that they knew what they wanted making this movie. Bad dialogue, no interesting characters at the center and a very convoluted but generic story about cops, Chinatown, undercover, gangs, macho loyalty, etc…Films like Year of the Dragon, the Departed, Deep Cover and Hong Kong stuff are better alternatives.
