Cowboy del Amor Reviews
A fascinating premise that unfortunately doesn't deliver as well as I had hoped. Ivan definitely is an interesting character, but his views on women and how he deals with women in his own personal relationships is decidedly ..... umm antiquated. Ivan's heart is in the right place and trying to help two people come together is a worthy goal. But the doc isn't presented as well as it could be. Worth a watch but not worth buying or watching a second time.
it's an interesting story that you'd find in the back pages of a local newspaper. There's something kinda charming about Mr Thompson as he plays the Cowboy Cupid.

Twisted, fun documentary about the "cowboy cupid." The absurdity and overblown personality of the subject matter and his obliviousness to it is a large part of what makes this film work. A true classic.

Enjoy this chauvanist biggot help simple men find love south of the border. Think of a backwater eHarmony guy.
The documentary is amusing, but doesn't feel quite right. It just kind of meanders along. Ivan Thompson makes up for it, though, "The Cowboy Cupid" is ridiculous.
Great but modest. A tale of one of the million things that are going on in the problematic border and you have never heard of. This should have been included in The Crystal Frontier somehow. Maquiladora has its very own feelings.
This movie went over like poop in a punchbowl. So Americans cross border shop for women..WOPEEDOooooo.....way better documentaries out there.
It's a pretty straight-laced documentary about a pretty odd guy who brings American bachelors down to Mexico to find wives. In some cases it works, and in some cases it doesn't. Thompson himself has been married a number of times (never a good sign in a matchmaker)--he can be chauvenistic and corny at times, but he's so earnest that it's hard not to like him.
A bit bawdy at moments, but one of those characters that somehow seeped out of the Old West and into the 21st century. Particularly interesting for those of us who live in Torreon, Mexico and will recognize the streets and places.
