An intense adrenaline induced drama that features fantastic performances and a standoff for the ages!

Filme mais ou menos, o roteiro é fraco, o filme tem cenas de drama bacaninhas, mas não foi o suficiente para ser bom, o elenco é bom e poucos ajudam a melhorar o filme, e a história é fraca, e faltou várias cenas para o filme ser relevante e bom.

Crimson Tide is a high adraneline rush from start to finish with powerful performances from Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington. The movie takes place mostly on board a U.S. nuclear submarine where the brink of Nuclear war is imminent. When I say this is a masterclass of acting between Gene and Denzel believe me. You don’t want to miss this one. Late great Director Tony Scott who usually does quick cut aways in his films is very patient here with leaving the camera rolling on his actors. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through in this movie. You don’t want to miss this one. Crimson Tide gets a high 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

Two great actors absolutely nail the rivalry between two highly respected men. An absolute classic with a great backstory and more than enough thrilling moments.

Watched this again after Gene Hackman's passing. Great casting and surprisingly great script which isn't something one recalls Bruckheimer-Simpson films for. Denzel is in one of his best roles as Hackman's new 2nd in command. Apart from one melodramatic showdown, the movie holds up well. It's a visual tour-de-force from Director Tony Scott. No wasted moments here.

I feel like the studios and film universe would collapse on itself if something like this tried to get made now. Great acting and direction all around.

A little bit over the top, like most Bruckheimer's movies, but we get prime Gene Hackman here, Denzel, and some other great supporting actors, giving it all for Tony Scott to make a good movie.

Denzel maravilhoso.

Sometimes you just forget how good a movie really is until you finally watch it again! I really do not need to say a lot other than yes it is very worthy must watch!, with an incredible supporting cast.

watching this in 2024 is like on the edge of the seat everytime

Probably the 2nd best submarine movie after Hunt for Red October. Amazing cast, direction, score. Super intense. So much rewatchability, even when you know the ending. The writing, which was touched up by Tarantino, is on point.

One of the many Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer collaborations that helped make the 90s such an incredible decade for movies, Crimson Tide is an action film with brains to match the brawn. Somewhat based on a real life incident, the story follows a nuclear submarine that gets caught up in a difficult situation, and a divided crew that each believe themselves to be taking the right course of action, a judgement that’s left up to the viewers to decide. What’s so compelling about the story is the power dynamic between the leads, played brilliantly by Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington. They’re 2 professionals, one more academic and introspective and the other more hardnosed and experienced. The scenario that plays out tests both of them in different ways, and the film is smart enough to never paint them as entirely right or wrong, its just how they approach the situation and their ability, or inability, to see the big picture. Much like the subaquatic masterpiece Das Boot, the film makes great use of the inherent claustrophobia that comes with being on a crowded submarine, with narrow corridors, low ceiling and something to bang your head on round every corner. The camerawork and directing, with lots of long shots and Dutch angles, constantly keeps you uncomfortable, as do the close ups of sweaty, panic-stricken faces. It’s a perfect example of a slow escalation of tension, a raising of stakes and a ticking clock that the film constantly reminds you of. We get to know our characters through the simplest of exchanges, and in smart little moments that are woven throughout the narrative, such as Ramsey’s liking of classical music, or Hunter’s discussion of comic book characters. There’s never a wasted moment, and whichever team you end up agreeing with, you’ll come out the other side feeling like you just watched one Hell of a film.

Tony Scott delivers a pinnacle of action and drama, with Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman’s brilliant on-screen chemistry elevating the film’s tension to an entirely new level.

Crimson tide is a riveting, claustrophobic, action packed adventure of a film. The brilliant direction putting the viewer inside the submarine along with all the characters as everything plays out in real time is fantastic writing and directing. Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman play off each other throughout the entire film is truly entertaining. This film has a lot going for it , Great acting , fantastic pace, Great story definitely puts this film at the very top with a lot of other war movies.

This has gotta be one of the best war movies out there. The acting, story, pace, etc. All of it is unreal. This movie is a 10/10. 11/10 considering they yell “Go Bama, Roll Tide!”

One of the best submarine movies ever made.

The performances are excellent across the board with some really good dialouge throughout. The cinematography can be a bit on the style side but there is tons of substance as well. A very tight script that balances thrills with brains very well. There really isn't much else to say. Also really liked the neon/blue/red colors at times as well. It gives it a surreal feel for a crazy high stakes thriller. All Time Classic. Everyone should give it a try.

In a time of paranoia and fear, our greatest enemy is ourselves! When a submarine receives a transcription concerning a potential nuclear strike, the captain and lieutenant clash over what the right decision would be: remain on stand-by or attack and risk nuclear war, which spurs the lieutenant to perform a mutiny as a desperate last resort. With tensions building to a fever pitch, this underwater thriller manages to leave us breathless as a potential nuclear holocaust looms on the horizon!
