Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Reviews
Great action scenes and emotional depth
This martial arts movie was really good. Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun-fat, Chang Chen, Cheng Pei-pei, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The plot of the movie was dramatic, adventurous, and incredible and the martial arts was well choreographed as well. It's about being happy and what you've always wanted to do in life. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see.
One of the most beautiful wuxia movie ever put on film. Excellent fight choreography by Yuen. Great performance by Chow and others. Wonderfully directed by Lee.
noah:says crouching tiger hidden dragon is my favourite movie!
An absolute classic. Masterclass in cinematography, fight choreography and how a simple story is told in an epic and touching way. Movies like this make most of the stuff we are being served these days especially on streaming services look so bad.
As an Asian teenager when I saw this, my first impression was "Yellow Minstrel Show". And that was probably part of the reason behind its success in the west. But over the years I think it's stood the test of time, and retains a kind of epic feeling that's not captured in many other kung-fu movies.
Beautiful movie but typical kung-fu wooden acting. Confusing plot. Above average kung fu movie. Critics liked it because they couldn't understand it and didn't want to appear stupid.
The most beautiful movie I’ve ever watched.
One of my favourite movies of all time. Michelle Yeoh really kicks it and Zhang Ziyi started her illustrious career. Try 2046 for something totally different.
Great martial arts film with captivating cinematography and an interesting plot
What a beautiful movie.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is a cinematic masterpiece that captivates viewers with its unique blend of action, compelling narrative, and stunning visual beauty. Directed by Ang Lee and released in 2000, the film is an epic journey that transports audiences to ancient China, where the battle between good and evil unfolds amidst breathtaking landscapes and masterfully choreographed battles. At the heart of the film are the characters of Li Mu Bai and Jen, brilliantly portrayed by Chow Yun-fat and Zhang Ziyi respectively. Li Mu Bai embodies the tradition and wisdom of a martial arts master, while Jen represents youth and rebellion, creating a fascinating contrast between experience and impulsiveness. Through their complex interactions and character development, the film explores universal themes such as love, honor, destiny, and the quest for freedom. One of the film's highlights is its impressive martial arts choreography, which blends elegant and acrobatic movements with astonishing precision and grace. Each fight scene is a work of art in itself, with expertly executed choreography that elevates the action to a whole new level. In addition to its spectacular action, the film also offers a profound reflection on the nature of heroism and sacrifice. Through its characters and moral dilemmas, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" invites us to question our own perceptions of bravery and integrity, and reminds us of the importance of following our hearts even in the most challenging moments. In summary, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is a cinematic masterpiece that combines thrilling action, moving narrative, and stunning visual aesthetics to create an unforgettable experience on the big screen. It is a film that continues to resonate with audiences years after its release, and undoubtedly deserves its place as one of the jewels of contemporary cinema.
Loved this movie. Ang Lee mixes melancholy love stories and beautiful imagery with mind boggling, dance-like choreographed action sequences. The result is one of the best action movies ever made.
One of the main reasons I started learning Chinese was because I absolutely loved how this movie depicted traditional Chinese culture.
the best movie ever made imo. it’s insanely beautiful. the direction, pacing, acting, writing and action is all absolute perfection.
