Dark Crimes Reviews
Remarkable way to tell a tale. The movie used facial art. Blended with dialoge delivered through facial expressions that left me at awe. A startling ending was as a nich touch to a very entertaning film.
Many people will be turned off or let down such by this off putting drama and not want to like it because of the upsetting situations that happen throughout with Jim Carrey leading this.
A pesar de la curiosidad inicial de ver a Jim Carrey en un drama policial y de su ritmo lento tengo que admitir que es una muy buena película que te atrapa desde el comienzo y cumple por mucho con las mínimas expectativas que tenia.
Love it. It's a slow burn, very similar to Scandinavian crime drama. If you like dark European crime shows, you will enjoy this movie.
Couldn’t look away from Jim in this flick. Astonishing performance. Lacking in every other category though. Still worth a watch.
It was a nice movie to watch, but I couldn't tell what Carrey's accent was...if it was Polish or Irish or something else. I felt like his character said and did things that weren't natural to his sense of principles and were not cohesive to the story. I felt like a lot of it was creative embelishment for the sake of artistic license and lent no validity to the path of the investigative nature. I almost feel bad for Carrey to have been cast in this role, but if it was his idea, then I feel bad for everyone else in the movie. Honestly, everyone but Carrey felt authentic to the plot.
It’s just slow. One of those movies with limited to almost no dialogue. No emotion. Stiff characters with no expression. No real idea of who the character is or what they’re thinking. There’s no clear reason or explanation of what’s going on in each scene. Makes it hard to stay interested. One minute Jim Carey is in someone’s house doing what looks to be a police raid, then the next he’s in another ladies house questioning her. But I have no idea who the lady is, or why he’s questioning her, or why he left the raid, or how he ever got to her house! It literally just skipped to the next scene with no recollection of why. For it to be a mystery film there needs to be some context, some explanation of what’s going on. Especially since it’s not one of those movies you’re easily glued to. This film also has some pretty graphic scenes which lack context and seem to be there only to spark arousal in the viewer, to compensate for everything else the film is lacking. It’s lacking moral direction to be such a serious topic like sex trafficking. I will say Jim Carey did very well but deserved a much more engaging, deceptive, script and plot. I only got through about 30 minutes but maybe I’ll try again another time.
Sensible and magnificent performance of Jim Carrey. All actors in this movie was amazing job. Misterious history.
Love this film. It is a commentary on sex trafficking and the very real crimes that go on daily within the sex industry and drips down into everyday life in families as sex abuse. Watch if you want to understand the world you live in a little more. 5/5 10/10
Some how a bit interesting. But the sound is bad, and the storyline is stupid.
Extremely misogynistic movie. Surprised Jim Carrey would take a such a callous role where he climaxes while physically abusing a woman who's been trapped in the sex trade for years. Oh. But she turns out to be a murderer of her abuser, so it's fine. Everybody bad.
Sorry to say, 1,5hours I never get back. Slow movie where the plot is all too obvious. Static scenes and a lack of logic in the characters reasoning and actions. A few moments where Jim shines in his characters demise, but it is rare...
I've not seen it yet but I'm rating it 5 stars anyhow coz Jim carrey is the goat no matter what
Rotten tomatoes is wrong as usual.
Dire, dreary, boring, awful.
Great movie. Really interested.
This is a dark and disturbing movie. It is also much better than critics acknowledge. Perhaps they couldn't get past the darkness and so criticizing was easier than engaging? Either way, JC is excellent and the tone and sentimentality - more reminiscent of European films than those out of Hollywood - adds a nice flavor.
This feels like an overacted movie. With a plot where you don't even care who the murder really is.
Thoughtful, intelligent, horrifying. Jim Carrey is amazing in this performance. It made me think of Ingmar Bergman movies.
One of the most unfairly dismissed films in the history of unfair dismissal. 'Dark Crimes' is an excessively well-shot exercise in atmosphere and other European thriller isms. The screenwriter really could have put more effort into the correlating drama between the character's personal lives and the crimes being investigated.
