[color=#000000][font=Times New Roman][size=4] Unfortunately this movie contains the thing that I have found (after watching many) that hurts many independent/low budget productions. Too much filler. The effects in this film are well done. When the gore finally starts, its well done. The music score isnt bad. Nothing in it grabs me and makes me remember it after the viewing, but it is there and during the viewing it does its job of supporting the screen action. The acting also isnt bad. There are a few cliché characters, but done tongue in cheek, and I give credit and applause to the performance put in by our main character. Hes great in the role.[/size][/font][/color]
[color=#000000][font=Times New Roman][size=4] Its the way the films story is edited and put on film that hurt this production. By the first 20 to 25 minutes it is very well established that our main character leads a life of being picked on and abused by those around him. Its also established that he has major issues and trauma from his childhood in dealing with the infidelities of his mother which drove his father to commit a very public and graphic suicide. We know he is in therapy for various things, including some past violent behavior. We see that he has a ray of hope in his life, a girl that has shown kindness and interest in him. All of this is solidly shown in that first half hour or so of the movie. The problem comes when we have to sit through another 30 minutes or so of more materiel that gives us nothing different at all. By the end of that I said OK!! I get it!![/size][/font][/color]
[color=#000000][font=Times New Roman][size=4] I have no doubt that it is difficult to get that balance right. To little of that and you dont establish a character well enough for your audience to care what he does next or what happens to him/her. To much and you lose your audiences interest in the story since they are watching stuff that is showing them what they already know and so the plot doesnt advance. Easy or not, the balance has to be found and achieved or it hurts the enjoyment of watching the movie. In my opinion, thats what went wrong in this film. That balance wasnt achieved. The plot stopped after the first half hour or so and made us watch scenes for another half hour that told us all over again all the same stuff we knew about in the first part. Better luck next time to the director.[/size][/font][/color]
