Diamonds Are Forever Reviews
Probably one of the weakest Bond films made. Poorly written, weak villains, mediocre girls. Where was the revenge thriller after Bond's wife is killed in OHMSS that fans wanted? Only partially saved by an overweight, greying Sean Connery.
i actually really enjoyed Diamonds are Forever, it’s campy and it knows that it is Campy
Never have I been so bored watching a Bond film. Just a completely uninteresting plot, no interesting characters, and Connery blatantly past it and not caring about anything other than the pay.
The worst film in the series starring Sean Connery. I consider Dr. No and From Russia with Love his best. Goldfinger, Thunderball, and You Only Live Twice had good stories, but were increasingly silly.
In my opinion by far best of the early Bond films. Charles Gray for me, so far, reaches the culmination of 'villains' as one of Shakesperian acting capability in a quitely powerful, understated way. I am not an enthusiast or fan of royal patronage, however this gentleman ought to receive a posthumous knighthood for his contribution to the British entertainment stage. The reverse is applicable to most politicians!
Very funny action comedy. 8/10.
Diamonds Are Forever has always been a more interesting what-if than a real film to me, its production history is far more fascinating than the final product. A clear attempt at recreating what had made Goldfinger work, but after Lazenby walked and Roger busy filming The Persuaders, the entire film flounders around wasting everyone's time, almost as if it was done to tie the audience over till the next leading man had been found. It's a complete mess, simple as. Breezing over the previous film's gut-wrenching ending without as much as a passing thought, instead offering a redundant, dull and brutally mundane diamond-smuggling melodrama without the spectacle we associate with James Bond. Guy Hamilton's direction is a far cry from his high points, as lazy as Connery's one-note performance in a role he so easily made his just shy of a decade prior. He's just going through the motions and looks to have aged horribly in the time away from 007, while the remaining cast is just as bad although Charles Gray does admittedly commit to the bit, he's just not cut out for the role of Blofeld. Even with John Barry turning in another fine score, seeming like he's the only one trying, Diamonds Are Forever doesn't have the same quality or flair we've seen previously ending up as a nonsensical, undeveloped and completely lifeless bore.
Only redeeming qualities are the Bond girls. Jill St John and Lana Woods have the best parts literally.
It's hardly the spectacle that the Bond films of the 60s were, but Connery's return keeps things watchable and, at times, even exciting.
Sean Connery is back, but this isn't one of the best of the Bond movies.
The final Connery film unfortunately turned out to be one of the weakest films in the franchise. Even though it's good to see him back in this role and the theme song is really good. The film just feels pale compared to the other films in terms of action, dialogues and even acting in certain parts.
Connery exits as James Bond in fine fashion in this, his final performance.
Sean Connery returns as James Bond in this outstanding 007 flick, elevated by incredible visuals and a stellar supporting cast.
This is the worst james bond movie ever made. Through it's entire runtime is dull and boring with the otherwise great sean connery giving his most listless performance as 007. it totally wastes the premise of having bond out for revenge for the death of his wife at the ending of OHMSS, and instead we get a forgetable and boring plot about diamonds and blofield cloning himself and more stupid stuff in the middle of this piece of crap. Finally, for all the critisms that have been hailed against roger moore's run for being campy and over the top, Diamonds are forever makes Moonraker look like the dark knight in terms of realism.
Very fun and well written story.
This is Sean Connery's last film well it is boring film to watch
Mr. White. And Mr. Kid. Are some of my favorite parts of this movie diamonds are forever is surprisingly pretty good. This is one of my hot takes for the franchise but I don't think it's bad and I enjoyed myself while watching it 7/10
90% rating ... Sean Connery's last film as James Bond is still as good as his earlier films.
A Bond film as campy as it is charming, Diamonds Are Forever is a frivolous and shakily put together film that despite Sean Connery's delighted performance and some fun sequences feels too lax for its own good.
