Vale apena assistir? sim Nota: 8
highly underrated! A hidden gem! Intense and sooo good!
Interesting little drama with a thriller, and vigilante twist. They tie together all the story lines seamlessly and overall this is a really good movie, well acted and directed as well. The whole grief parts can be boring at times but all the parents seeking justice (or revenge) , makes it all worth it!
I'm a sucker for bringing a slew of characters in on a common theme. Disconnect harps on the importance of family, of knowing and seeing your loved ones through struggle.
Phenomenal film. Great acting all round from a superb cast. The intertwining storylines are all gripping and suspenseful and superbly and sensitively handled (reminds me a little of the equally excellent Crash and Happiness). A totally absorbing film and a must see.
Better than I thought it would be. I wanted to dislike this movie on account of it reminded me of that awful Crash flick, and Skarsgard, while a really good actor, picks completely shitty projects. At first, I thought here we go again, but the film grew on me and pulled me in. Even characters I thought were objectionable I grew to empathize with, and the scene where the nudie pics were released online was just heartbreaking. Yeah, it is a little too coincidental; overly melodramatic; they probably tried to frenetically jam too much in at once, and the ending won't be satisfactory to all watchers. But I think the final result was a win.
5.0/10 — "Poor"/"Inferior"/"Amateurish" -(Seen on 8/10/21)
Stumbled across this gem on amazon prime. Certainly a more melancholic drama about cyber issues. I liked the way the different tales interwove. I would strongly recommend, but you've got to be in the right frame of mind
Good for the most part, with a lot of interesting substance, but it falls a little bit short in the last act. That's basically the only real problem I have with Disconnect. It's a well done drama, with a tiny bit of thriller elements to it, but that's actually the problem. I think it could've been even better if it focused more on being more thrilling. Because for a thriller, this would be considered very bland. But otherwise it's an ambitious piece of work, taking a look at the dark side of the very connected world that we live in today. It's an ever more present theme. And it's also supported by an ambitious cast. While they're all good, Jason Bateman, Frank Grillo and Paula Patton where the actors who really made an impression on me. Overall, Disconnect is a very interesting movie about the dangers of the Internet and modern technology, and while it may fall quite short as a thriller, it's quite worth seeing as a sometimes very heavy drama. Recommended!!
If you don't have 3 hours to watch the superior "Magnolia", this movie will scratch that itch just fine. There isn't a single weak link in either the all-star cast nor the fascinating stories, so when we cut to a new perspective, you're never irritated by it, only entranced. I'm glad that it didn't go yhe simple "technology is bad, remember the good old days when we were bored but we were bored in person?" route and instead takes a bit more evened route because it ISN'T all bad. All these situations would happen without technology too, technology is just a means to an end to make everything more convenient: for better AND for worse. 8.5/10
The "Grand Canyon" movie for the electronic age, showing how interconnected we all are now with technology.
Holy shit this movie really affected me to my emotional core. Each story was so deep and impactful. It's been a very long time since a movie got to me like Disconnect did. And it's a timeless message: be careful with technology. It has so many good uses that we've become accustomed to having in our life, but there are risks. Major major risks. The negative effects aren't felt often, but for the people who are affected by them, it's a life changer. The acting in this movie was great. It was all so believable and real. And the plot was magnificent. I know I'm throwing out superlatives like it's going out of style but I rated this 4.5*, so I don't think I'm over-doing it. This plot was very unique and written in a way that goes right after your heart. The only thin I didn't like about the film was the message they put out at the end re underage online sex workers and how they don't need saving and that this is their choice. Unfortunately that situation only applies to a very small minority of them... the vast majority are working against their will as they've been kidnapped and forced into that lifestyle. So to make it seem anything but the evil it truly is i very very misleading. But I get why the character made those remarks in the situation they were in. I highly recommend this film to everyone... especially teenagers.
The three different but overlapping stories were unnecessary. I lost interest at first, but it was more watchable as it went on. I don't really care for this style of movie in general, and this was average at best. It would have been better if they had just the made the movie on the cyberbullying story. This is an interesting and effective movie that catches you by the heart and then makes you think about the implications for your own life. The story is well-crafted and the acting is uniformly excellent. I am surprised it is not better known. A hidden and complex gem for the online era.
