What to Know

Critics Consensus

Provocative and audacious, Dogma is an uneven but thoughtful religious satire that's both respectful and irreverent.

Todd McCarthy Variety A very vulgar pro-faith comedy rather than a sacrilegious goof, Dogma is an extraordinarily uneven film that significant cutting might be able to transform into a playable one. Mar 19, 2008 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader I couldn't care less whether Smith's metaphysical conceits about the war between Good and Evil are those of a devout believer or an atheist. The bottom line is that they're puerile. Mar 19, 2008 Full Review Andrew Sarris Observer Dogma is more strained than funny. Apr 27, 2007 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment I was finally able to see the film with an audience and very clearly observe how Jason Mewes is just as valuable as Alan Rickman in this sprawling, irreverent look at religion, back when Smith still showed ability as a director. Rated: 10/10 Apr 30, 2025 Full Review Chuck Klosterman Akron Beacon Journal It's hard not to be charmed by the seamless combination of high and low humor in this script. Rated: 3/4 Oct 27, 2023 Full Review Clement Tyler Obropta Film Inquiry Dogma is both one of the worst movies ever made and also one of the best. May 20, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Walter OBrien Amazing to see this movie again finally in a theater. Better than I remembered. Saw it at Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle in Atlantic Highlands NJ with live commentary by Smith and a hysterical and heartfelt Q&A session more than an hour long. Some great stories from a great movie. Can’t wait to see it again!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/16/25 Full Review Gregory Dogma as a film after 25 years still is a joy to watch. The cast include incredible performances all around and balance the comedy well with the more serious moments. The story as well is a stand out that does not necessarily mock religion but rather how beliefs can be dangerous but also powerful and the need to be malleable with them. For a film 25 years old, the cinematography still looks good and only really shows during scenes where there are 온라인카지노추천s on since it was before the HD switch was made. The event itself, as many done by Mr. Smith, was a great time. the behind the scenes stories, audience energy, and conversations with Kevin made for a memorable time that wish would have gone even longer and would suggest making your way out to see this or any future tours he does with his films. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review Stephen C LOL, 2.25 hours of humor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated R for Some Drug Content, Sex-Related Dialogue, Crude Humor, Strong Language, and Violence. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Rami A Dogma is the type of movie that can blend comedy with religion with a perfect cast. It's a ludicrously fun and smart film. It doesn't approach this by offending religion, specifically Christianity. Instead, it adds a playful charm to it, without being strictly serious. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Cami S I absolutely love this movie. Very interesting perspective from fallen angels, and the ending is wonderful. One of my all time favorites!!
