Somewhat compelling, but steals large portions of its style from significantly better Mexican movies (Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien)

The most of mexicans films tend to be, or at least try but fail miserably, profound and philosophical, but this is close enough to that. This film lets you a dry sensation in your mouth, its in some way overwhelming. Maybe the weak point its the inability to handle all the stories, its has some slumps because of it. Even that, Naranjo its a powerful and innovative, for Mexican cinema, director that has a promising career.

C'est ca le style mexicain? Pas mal. La petite ado est trop bonne a essayer de faire la dure, le bonhomme, touchant. Le triangle amoureux est crédible, le dénouement intéressant.

Powerful and intense movie about the youth in Acapulco. This movie captured my attention quickly and never let up until the end. I wanted to see what was going to happen next. great performances by the young actors.

A completely waste of time...

Soapier than I'd anticipated, but not necessarily deserving of the intense scorn most critics have heaped on it. I'm not really sure who the audience for Naranjo's film is: practically every character has a fuck-all attitude, and there's a certain flippancy to the movie that can get exasperating (I think the reviewer who cited Godard and Cassavetes is on to something: Naranjo evokes both 'Breathless' and 'Contempt' at various moments, and visually the film recalls Cassavetes at his most opulent). Honestly, Naranjo seems over-excited by his material, as if it were more than just a depressing record of one day in the lives of some decadent Mexicans. It's hard to tell if the triptych structure is utilized to detail some kind of overarching theme, or if maybe the film is purposefully a collection of parts not amounting to a "sum" -- just a series of encounters plumbed for the excitement and provocation they afford. It IS nice to see directors continuing to author narratives that don't privelege single characters, but this sort of decentralized filmmaking often results in very mixed success when its loosely-knit material refuses to yield much meaning (the recurrent use of the "Moonlight Sonata" was perhaps Naranjo's attempt to rope the content together into some kind of melancholy testament, but if so I'm not sure it worked). The most memorable pleasures here may just be pleasures of surface -- movement, light, skin, etc. That and the film is very alive sexually.

Intensa, sincera... Una de esas peliculas mexicanas clasicas

I found the next Wong Kar-wai, and he's a Mexican! The most exciting new filmmaker I've seen in a long long time. He wears his Godard and Cassavetes on his sleeve and mixes it with machismo, sand, futbol, and alcohol. Puro mexicano.

mmm, no esta mal, pero los movimientos de camara se mueven demasiado, como que el camarografo no tenia buen pulso.. o de plano asi lo quizo el direc. pero eso fue lo unico que no me gusto.. se movia demasiado la camara. ahhh y la mentada pieza de beethoven (sonata claro de luna) la ponian a cada rato. pero esta mucho mejor que otras operas primas de otros mexicanos.

estuvo interesante hasta los ultimos 20 minutos que se puso muy extraña la relacion ty paso a ser un triangulo amoroso metiendo a personaje del novio de fernanda, el "fresilla".

¡Qué se fuma Gerardo Naranjo! Eso fue lo primero que pasó por mi mente cuando terminé de ver esta cinta que, definitivamente, es una pieza entre melodramática y cómica en la que tenemos tres historias que se entrelazan pero no porque una tenga que ver con la otra, sino que una ocurre al mismo tiempo que la otra y nada más. El único punto de enlace es cuando Jenny pide aventón y ahí se murió el enlace. No sabemos las razones del hombre adulto, pero podemos ver que tiene un problema muuuuy grande interior y que supongo tiene que ver en su relación con la hija y, también, con su esposa y con su trabajo y al parecer esta presencia de Jenny que es una aspirante a porstituta pero con cierto grado de nobleza y de empatía que le hace ver la luz al viejito. Por otro lado, la historia de la chava, Chano y Gonzalo en lo que al final, creo, resulta ser un viaje por la soledad que provoca el adulterio en diferentes etapas. Pero sobre todo esa soledad que vemos evidenciada por la falta de atención de la familia al viejito, la Jenny que por algo huyó, la chava que nunca ve a su papá y que parece un gran ausente, Chano que en su soledad vuelve por ella y Gonzalo que teme quedarse sin ella...solo. No puedo decir que sea mi cinta favorita, la verdad no lo es y no me gustó mucho el manejo de cámaras ni la foto, pero no esta del todo mal y creo que veremos grandes cosas de Gerardo Naranjo.

Unos directores copian el cine gringo y otros el cine europeo. Es pretenciosa en el sentido de querer ser sencilla y cuando quieres eso necesitas buenos actores. y desde el primer dialogo de Fernanda sabes que sera malisima.
