Drop Dead Fred Reviews
Sadly, you never quite know what you've got until it's gone, and that goes for Rik. This is such an underrated movie, in which he was brilliant. It is funny, heart warming and subtly deals with trauma and mental health. I watched it when I was much younger and didn't think much of it. 30 odd years later I can appreciate the storyline.
GREAT FUNNY FILM, Especially with children but funny as an adult as well. The Fact that it was at 11% Before my rating PROVES THAT ROTTEN TOMATOES IS USED MOSTLY BY PEDOCRATS WITH NO SENSE OF HUMOR!
Guess it's not for everyone. I loved it as a kid and love it as an adult, and my kids love it. It's a staple for this wacky family. Rik Mayall eats.
🍀 5.3/10 I’ve been shitting out these reviews left and right I don’t even know what to say anymore. yes it was semi endearing semi homicidal. Is chuckle worthy but idk I didn’t fuck with it.
This is such a good movie! Rik Mayall nailed this performance. The entire cast, Phoebe Cates, Marsha Mason, Tim Matheson, Carrie Fisher, are all fantastic and perfect! It's not a campy kids movie, it's comedy brilliance, pure gold!
Absolutely brilliant... some of the funniest scenes and quotes I've ever seen/heard.
this movie is so bad it made get nightmares the intro sucks this poop sucks
One of the best movies from my childhood. 5/5
An absolutely horrible movie.
I really didn't want to watch this movie, i REALLY do not want to watch this movie. everything of this film is extremely unbearable from beginning to end, not to mention the jokes and gags are atrocious, that and who asked you to cast Carrie Fisher of all people? Drop Dead Fred isn't just the worst of 1991 but it is also the worst films to ever come out of the entire decade.
I get it if you seen this as a little kid and have fond memories but holy cow...it's stupid bad. The pacing is just bizarre. This alternates nonstop between nonsense, stupidity, and bizarreness without hardly ever taking a breath. On top of that everything else is terribly made about it. The music feels over the top, out of place, and stupid. It's memorable but for the wrong reasons. The acting is all over the place kind of bad. There is a difference between being innocent/childlike and clueless/moronic. Lizzy is a complete idiot where common sense is completely lacking. Why she goes back to her boyfriend is beyond me. Fred is just bad and all over the place alternating between annoying and bizarre. The boyfriend is just as clueless as Lizzy. The jokes and humor are what kills this more than anything. This is a great idea for a film with lots of clever potential for commentary and some clever editing. But it puts mindless jokes and never takes the idea of imaginary friends seriously. On top of that it feels like stuff just happens more than a cohesive story. The quiet moments are more like cluesless moments as well. This has a cheap feel to it along with bad CGI as well. Skip This even if you grew up with it.
One of my favourite films from my childhood (bad I know given the content!) I found this film hilarious (and still do). Watching as an adult hits hard when you understand that the film is actually about! Emotional abuse and suppressed childhood. Even so, I still crease at the humour! Wow cobwebs
This film has brought me such joy. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it fantastic? I would say yes.
A Classic. One of a Kind.
This film is like marmite, you either love it or hate it. To take in consideration it was made in 1991, watching it back today I personally love this film... The late Rik Mayall was a very talented wacky actor. This film is a classic to be enjoyed with humour
Iconic movie my generation and my kids loved all to this day
One of my all time favorites.
Not always appropriate for young children but absolutely hilarious and relatable. We all need a little drop dead Fred in our lives.
I have loved this movie since I was a child. Brings back memories of happier times. Yes it has a certain cheese factor. Who really cares? All the people who give this one star make me think of the yelpers in the South Park episode You're Not Yelping.
