The Emperor's New Groove Reviews
amazing and has a crap ton of meme potential.
Such an aimless movie filled with annoying jokes. With that being said, I’m not surprised it’s seeing a resurgence with the low attention spanned TikTok generation.
This is probably the FUNNIEST MOVIE DISNEY RELEASED! David Spade did awesome as Kuzco and Eartha Kitt was Pretty good is Yzma rest in peace eartha. Pacha was also funny, and KRONK was the GOAT! that's all I have to say.
Funny and light - that's all I have to write and say about this project.
**Review: *The Emperor’s New Groove* (3.5/5 stars)** Alright, so *The Emperor’s New Groove* is absolute chaos—in the best way possible. It’s fast, funny, and packed with some of the best fourth-wall-breaking humor Disney’s ever done. I love a good meta gag, and this movie *thrives* on them. The characters? Iconic. David Spade’s Kuzco is peak sarcastic energy, Patrick Warburton’s Kronk is comedy gold, and Eartha Kitt’s Yzma is pure, cackling villainy. But here’s the thing—it’s all surface-level fun. The plot is simple, the pacing is lightning-fast, and because of the short runtime, there’s no real depth. No big emotional gut-punch or layered themes. Just jokes, llamas, and slapstick chaos. And honestly? That’s fine. It’s not *smart* humor, but it’s *fun* humor. If you’re looking for a deep Disney flick, this isn’t it. But if you just want 78 minutes of ridiculous, quotable nonsense? This one’s a winner.
I first discovered this movie back in the summer of 2015 and remember watching it in the summer of 2016. I must say Kuzco is a big jerk as he obviously doesn't care about anyone but himself. The emperor is just as bad if not worse than Yzma. Even though Kuzco is the protagonist, Pacha is the real hero in this movie. I can list all of Kuzco's wrongdoings. 1) He threw an old man out the window for "throwing off his groove" but in reality Kuzco bumped into him and wasn't looking. 2) He plans to destroy Pacha's village for his summer resort called Kuzcotopia. 3) He lied to Pacha about changing his mind to build Kuzcotopia somewhere else. 4) He left Pacha on the Bridge. 5) He sent Pacha away when Yzma was planning to kill him. Kuzco deserved to be turned into a llama as punishment for being cruel to everyone. Yzma is still the villain but you just can't blame her as her emnity towards the emperor is justifiable and understandable. I gotta say Pacha has a wonderful family. Chicha as the beautiful wife, Chaca and Tipo as the two adorable little children :). Anyway, Kuzco had to learn the meaning of empathy and the only way to do that was spend a night in the jungle and join a herd of llamas. He also had to learn the meaning of hard work because he's a lazy emperor while the villagers are hard working peasants. You know, Pacha could've used Kuzco to haul his carts since llamas were used to transport people and items back then. But lucky for Kuzco, Pacha appears and forgives him. Kronk is a funny guy, he may be asissting Yzma with her evil schemes but he's truly a nice guy at heart. Mudka's Meat Hut had nothing delicious and I for one am not eating there. The finale battle against Yzma was very comical and can't be taken seriously. Kuzco become nicer once he turns back into a person and everything turns out to be just fine. I love the ending scene in which Kronk is a scout leader. Kronk got his own movie which we can empathize more with than this one. Also, Pacha deserves to have his own movie since he's the real hero in this movie.
Love Kuzco. Love Kronk.
The story is done to death, but every line is so quotable and the voice cast is giving it there all to make this hilarious.
This movie literally definied comedy for generations! Every moment with Kronk is golden and every aspect of this movie is unhinged in the best way possible. I really regret not wanting to watch this when I had the chance. This movie did not disappoint in the slightest. I'd give it 6 stars if I could
This is when Disney Company were more daring and Up to Risk into doing something fun. This was one of this movies that were suppose to be more serious and Epic like the Lion King, but then decided to turned into a comedy... And they nail it!! Kuzco it's a character that you love to hate first and then love him even more as his character develop. The story and plot twist cracked me Up every second Creative, daring and with a gorgous 2D animation with the spirit of Tex Avery cartoons
It’s a comedic, under appreciated classic.
The Emperor's New Groove is enjoyable with plenty of laughs provided mainly by our villainess, Yzma, and her dim-witted sidekick, Kronk.
Tame, strange, and seldomly funny. Weird animation. Typical disney pc crap.
Brilliantly hysterical and unique!!
Mid
An extreme dud of a Disney movie. It's even more predictable than the usual animated affair and has a very unlikable main character (honestly David Spade's voice is probably part of the unlikeability -- and I think they also struck out on the John Goodman casting too, but this could be hindsight now 20+ years later). It's frantically paced right out of the gate, without much to warm you up to any of the characters. Thin on story and thick on action, this is one of the most adrenaline-shot cartoons I can remember seeing. At least it was short.
Iconic Disney comedy and slapstick.
A selfish Incan emperor named Kuzco, is turned into a llama as a result of a coup led by his advisor Yzma. The self-aware and meta humor in this movie is great! David Spade and John Goodman both do a good job playing the traditional roles that they play. Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton are amazing as Yzma and Kronk, the two antagonists. The story is straightforward and somewhat predictable. The animation is good and serves the comedic format of the film and story, but I wouldn’t put it in the same league as The Lion King or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Considering the major road bumps this film went through in production, I’m greatly pleased with how well it turned out! Sting was brought in as the music creator for this film and his wife filmed a documentary, The Sweatbox, that really highlights the creation of the film. I do think this movie is worth your time.
No es la típica película de Disney, es algo mucho mejor que no podrá volver a replicar.
The movie's story is very simple and to the point, and actually sends a good and moral message. The voice acting was really good and while the main villain was portrayed well and entertaining, I couldn't entirely take her and her "right hand man" seriously and their threat toward Emperor Kuzco was mostly played as a joke. There are some slightly better Disney films where the villains were a lot more menacing and dark. However other than that, the film's animation was also well done and it's an easy/simple and quick Disney movie to watch. I should've watched it when I was younger, I might've appreciated it more but I still acknowledge it as good!
