Encanto Reviews
Encanto is probably the best movie that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever released. the songs, the character designs, the casting, the timing of the humor, and of course the animation, is all phenomenal. i also love how Colombian culture is portrayed here. i don't even have any major gripes about this movie. it embodies everything that makes Disney special.
Encanto is just amazing, a mix of color, culture and music.
la mejor peliculas de Disney la amo la he visto como 13 veces y no me canso de Verla y verla
An Animated Classic The animation and music are the highlights here along with a great message. No One's Perfect, we all make mistakes and it's a part of who we are. The songs are either really catchy like Bruno or just visual treats. It's colorful, lively, and well directed. Everything else is really good. The problems I have here are really in the first half. The introduction of the family members, backstory, the little brothers ceremony, and the songs all feel very rushed and it's hard to keep track of it all at first. Also, the actual family members meeting each one as she unravels the mystery of the Encanto feels like it doesn't really add much. I mean it gives perspective one ach family member sure but if you take those numbers out not much changes save for Bruno and her perfect sister. What helps though is they are really well sung, visually entertaining, and well voiced. So it's easy to overlook and in the second half it does a great job brining everything home. The mother is a good "Villian" I guess but kind of annoying, and the strong sister design is.....questionable kind of. Also Mirabel is good and I like her but she's kind of bland at times, annyoing sometimes, but she's likeable overall. I wish it didn't feel so episodic with each family member and they interacted more throughout the runtime and maybe joined her or would come back. The only ones that really do are Bruno and the Mom. Besides that though it's really well executed, catchy, and a great time. Anyone who is a fan of animated flicks, family movies, any actors in this, or the director should check this out.
Unpopular opinion this would’ve been cool if it was watercolor I still like it in Cartoon Generated Imagery but I feel like it would have more popularity then it already had if it was watercolor to bring in that nostalgia
A staggeringly beautifully made film. The best non pixar developed film in almost a decade since the original Frozen.
Disney's "Encanto" benefits largely thanks to its incredible animation, strong characterization and voice acting, cultural respect for the Colombian region it is set in, brisk pace, themes of emotional trauma and perfectionism, and banger soundtrack. "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is one of my new favorite songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda and a real earworm. The only thing holding this movie back is Abuela Alma. Yes, I won't antagonize her, but her methods of trying to perfect her magical family feel more like manipulation than genuine leadership and care. Even with the death of her husband, that is still not an excuse to force your family into becoming perfect and proper, especially since the world does not work that way. I will admit that she gets a few redemption points by feeling real guilt when the Madrigals' Casita is destroyed, and ultimately chooses to have her family rebuild it with the knowledge that their magic is not what makes them special, but their personalities and love for each other. This one is a must-see for all Disney fans like myself.
Best movie ever I watched it with my brother and we thought it was the best movie ever
Absolutely incredible movie. From the imagery to the music to the message, this is an instant classic. Would happily watch anytime!
Great movie, every member of the Madrigal Family has a role more than being just a background character. Song are mostly great and the message is cool as well
The songs gave me a brain aneurysm, the movie was ok i guess overall, but I know what you did, Disney. I don't support your company in any way.
Es una historia que logro capturarme desde el momento cero, la energía que ponía la protagonista en sus escenas y músicas hacían que no pudiera quitar los ojos de la pantalla.
Very meaningfull movie
Great songs and nice wholesome story. Disney did well here.
A cute movie, not perfect. The songs are reasonable and so is the plot, the minuses are minor ones that I won't even list.
Encanto is one of the best Disney animated films of this century, decorated with colorful animation, beloved characters, and not forgetting timeless songs. If you want to find an animated family film with a warm and fun message, Encanto is the answer
I did not have high hopes going into "Encanto". This was the 3rd of 4 straight Disney movies that all had the same message. Just be yourself, that is what makes you special. "Luca" (2021) was about a fish boy trying to hide he was a fish boy, but perhaps the town will learn to accept himself for what he really is. "Ron's Gone Wrong" (2021), Ron is a robot that is different from all the other robots, but perhaps the children will learn that his differences are actually a good thing. And coming soon, "Turning Red" where a girl will learn to accept that it is OK to be different. You may have noticed a pattern. This isn't even Disney's first story about a family of superheroes where one member of the family doesn't have superpowers. "Up, Up, and Away" (2000) and "Sky High" (2005) both share this premise. Not that it's a bad message, it has just already been said. So, ironically, what does this one have to make it special? Well, number 1: is the music. Lin-Manuel Miranda does another terrific job in the songs for the movie. They are catchy, well-animated, well sung and advance the story in meaningful ways. Number 2: is the character of Maribel. Stephanie Beatriz does great in providing both the speaking and singing voice of the character. She is optimistic in the face of what most would see as injustice. She may borrow a bit from previous princess type role models, but she threads the line well of being flawed and relatable but still a positive and upbeat. Where the movie falls short is in elements of the story. I give the film credit for subverting some of the more tired Disney tropes, but it doesn't add much new to the formula. The movie's hook going forward is pretty weak and ill-defined. In mystery set ups like this, they need to be a compelling reason to keep the audience engaged. That is why typically it is a murder or kidnapping that hook the audience. In this, it is something might be vaguely wrong with the house. And Maribel has to do...something...to try and stop it. I don't say "something" to avoid spoilers, I say it because she has no idea what she can even do about it. And then when everything finally comes together, the movie wraps up pretty quickly and unceremoniously. In all, some tired beats, but still has some magic in it making it worth a watch.
Let’s set some clear expectations. This is a musical, not an action adventure film. And as a musical, I think it’s a must-watch. Songs are great. “We don’t talk about Bruno” was all over Billboard for a while hitting the mainstream, and the choreography were incredible. The team has really expressed the issue with family expectations in Asian culture. It’s well executed and shows what life was like in a family culture.
Definitely! Definitely! You guys need to see this movie! Encanto is my favorite Disney movie ever! Fantastic songs, fantastic characters, fantastic story, I love this movie! It has a good representational cultural background with likable characters to enjoy. I had fun with this movie, and I recommend everyone to see this movie!
