Not as terrible as the other reviews make it seem. Just another sad tale of twisted lives and twisted choices, and a truly horrible mother.
Holy moly is this movie depressing
1st of saying it's like a Law & Order as well as saying recorded as well is sacrilege. Law & Order is compelling attractive fun sometimes disturbing but Al's worth it. This film Every Secret Thing is just wrong. Wrong as incredibly boring dry waste of time not worth the film it's recorded on. The acting is very subpar the director is like a child learning how to direct. Now don't get me wrong huge fan of Elizabeth Smart & Diane Lane. They couldn't save it also definitely wrong Fanning. Dakota has nothing on her little sister. Right off the bad I knew Alice was the bad guy. Although I did love how the black cop does the superior racist profiling of Common.
Tragic, Disturbing and Frightening. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Outstanding cast! Elizabeth Banks is at her best in this role.

Every Secret Thing cashed in on the "creepiness of fat women" over any coherent motives or complex storytelling. The mom was toxic. But that was likely the superficial reasoning that the writer and/or director felt was good enough to mold a baby killer/stealer. But the baby had nothing to do with the mom. Nothing to do with Alice's jealousy and recognition of her mom's preference for her friend. Ultimately there were way better directions that could have been taken.
I DONT KNOW WHO PLAYED THE DARKEST SUSPENSEFUL ROLL! DIANE LANE OR DAKOTA FANNING!!! ALL THREE TOP ACTRESS WAS SUPERIOR!!! ITS A MUST WATCH AND PAY CLOSE ATTENTION & HOLD ON TIGHT ITS A ROLLERCOAST
A movie that is both simple and is unpredictable.
Not quite worth 3 & 1/2 stars, but a good solid mystery, thriller. Some good acting, especially Danielle Macdonald.
Ci si rende conto subito che tante cose non funzionano; fin da subito una serie di flashback rendono complessa più del dovuto la trama e non permettono di inserire bene i personaggi; alcuni dei quali vengono totalmente dimenticati. Dopo di che, per arrivare al finale, tutto viene stravolto per cercare un finale ad effetto; ed invece si peggiorano solo le cose, andando a smentire anche alcune scene viste durante il film con ragionamenti al limite dell'assurdo.
The film has talent and the storyline is quite interesting, but it never comes together. Sadly, the filmmakers or producers chose to have such a short running time. It hurts the film dramatically. The film needed at least another hour with deep exploration on character. You can understand why films have fallen away from cinema release when they run a minuscule 90 minutes. No one has a backstory and it lacks justification towards the end. It's a shame this film underdelivers as it showcases promising actors and strong characters. 15/11/2019
Dark, (not only visually) slow, boring.
Trust the critics this movie is a lose of your time... poor Elizabeth Banks trying her best and actually acting well in this total disaster.
Really disappointed, the synopsis really caught my attention as I love these types of psychological thrillers. The film was all over the place, no real depth to it and I feel it was a wasted storyline- as I'm sure someone else could have done something really exciting with this.
Disturbing and unpleasant. For a cast consisting of Elizabeth Banks and Dakota Fanning, my expectations were fairly high but this bleak, uninteresting crime drama is beyond terrible. There's absolutely nothing positive I can say for it.
Interesting enough. None of the characters were likeable at all. The story line flowed pretty well. I don't think banks is a good actor and did not believe her as a detective and that sort of ruined it for me.
A fairly intense drama surrounding a missing child, but it's the unravelling psychology behind the mystery which is most interesting.
