Great acting but it is a little bit depressing

Long drawn out story , good acting .

Great story great acting

Although slow moving, the story builds as you become invested in the characters. Sean Penn and Dylan Penn did an outstanding job in their roles. The story is based off of real people and events which makes it all the more touching as the events unfold. I was brought to tears on several occasions.

I always like true stories and this one was not different. I just think that they could have done the movie 40 minutes short . But overall I enjoy watching

This movie is not for the person looking for a high intense action packed thriller. I adapted to what I thought and believed was a dramatization of a true to life story. Although slow through many parts of the film, the content and acting held my attention throughout. The character acting was we!l done, and convincing. 3 Stars

Superior acting, cinematography and the music was outstanding. It was, however, very slow in that it stayed too long on very heartbreaking dysfunctional family situations. If you are looking for something even remotely uplifting this is not for you.

Beautifully directed, written and acted

Poignant… tragic, wonderful acting that is not just believable, but a father/daughter performance that I “felt” in my heart and my gut. I loved this movie.

This time Sean Penn is not only guarantee of excellent acting but also of a good director. He is impeccable in his acting. Great story. Beautiful and hard. It shows us the Amerika we are getting to know around the rust belt. Great movements of the camera showing us the contrast of happy and sad moments in a very dysfunctional family and some of the effects on the children. Interesting to know this is a good and successful real story. Once again Sean Penn is guarantee of good work. Great music! Highly recommended.

Excellent acting from both Sean Penn and his daughter, Dylan Penn. Definitely not a movie to see if you need lifting up! But the intense plot was was done so well. I’d be willing to bet, Sean Penn gets an Oscar nod!

The drama is boring. Sean Penn's dad character doesn't fit tone of film. Also, screw nepotism.
