As atuações são interessantes, mas o roteiro é que não ajuda mesmo num bom desenvolvimento. Rated 1/5 Stars •  Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Larry Cohen's horror spoof (with particular references to both American Werewolf In London and Good Luck Miss Wyckoff) about a high school football star who is bitten by a werewolf in 1959 and spends the next 21 years trying to figure out how to break the curse, which (this being a high school-set film) means winning the big football game. Typically cheap looking Cohen outing (with especially bad jump cuts between scenes) is still a typically entertaining Cohen outing too thanks to a great cast and enthusiastic performances. It stars Ed McMahon as a womanizing, anti-commi paranoiac (complete with bomb shelter) father of a teenager (Adam Arkin when he actually DID look like a kid) who becomes a werewolf after being not-mauled by what can only be described as a giant Teddy Ruxpin with glowing eyes and pointy ears. Our hero then proceeds to "annoy" the community by biting hot chicks on the ass...and not much more. Pretty much needs to be seen to be believed. It doesn't totally suck, so there's that. XD Rated 2.5/5 Stars •  Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly good corned teen comedy about Adam Arkin visiting Transylvania with his government spook father, Ed McMahon, and finds himself turned into a werewolf. He does the usual "Teen Wolf" and "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" things like chasing girls and playing football like an animal, but this film was written and directed by auteur Larry Cohen, who regularly inserts interesting political subtexts to his genre films, whether it's a horror flick like "It's Alive" or a blaxploitation film like "Black Ceasar," his films are always a cut above the usual mindless genre dreck. In this film, beyond the surface level comedy, which is quite funny thanks to the talented Arkin, the film, as Cohen describes it, "has some interesting ideas about how life in America has changed sexually and politically since the early sixties. All of Arkin's friends have changed but he hasn't. And whereas he changes into a werewolf all of the time, his friends change into middle aged people while he is gone, with different values and different ideas. They change as much as he does, actually". Cohen didn't make too may comedies, though comic elements are often present in his films, it was interesting to see him do an out and out comedy. And to top it all off, you get Alan Arkin, Adam's dad, playing a monster expert. A must see films for Cohen and Arkin fans and simply an entertaining film for regular film goers. Not as good as teen wolf, or An American Werewolf, or Ginger Snaps, or The Howling. But compared to all the bad werewolf movies ever made this one is the least bad.
