Critics Consensus

Overall, Fury is a well-acted, suitably raw depiction of the horrors of war that offers visceral battle scenes but doesn't quite live up to its larger ambitions.

Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint The scenes that attempt to humanize the protagonists, while also portraying the darker side of war, are too contrived. But the raw battle scenes are riveting...but you cannot ignore the script's moral high ground. Aug 5, 2019 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor An impressively solid World War II movie of the kind they don't make anymore. Rated: B+ Jan 5, 2015 Full Review Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly While these orgies of violence are staged with tense, gruesome precision, they don't convey much beyond what we already know. Namely, that war is hell. Message received. Rated: C+ Jan 5, 2015 Full Review Ankit Ojha Cinema Elite Ayer wants you to empathize with the psychological damage war causes those thrust into it but doesn’t let that veer him away from letting you know that none of these characters—apart from Norman to an extent—are likable or remotely good people. Rated: 4/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Ross McIndoe The Skinny Its blood-and-gore approach seems less in service of historical realism and more a means of delivering the kind of masochistic machismo in which Ayer has a tendency to deal Rated: 2/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand [Director David] Ayer is all about conflict and collisions, between and within groups of violent men, and has consistently made the violence in his cinema visceral and vivid. Kyle P Absolutely peak, the way they portray how hard it is in war. I recommend it if you like action or just sadness Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Rich N Great Film. Love David Ayer’s films. Think 24 hours and a wake up in a tank. Just one day and they hell they go though. Watch this film. It’s as good as The Outpost or Platoon or Saving Private Ryan. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review Nathan E The story of war, brother ship, family packed into 5 incredible actors who absolutely killed it on screen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review Oskar T It was decent movie till last fight. I mean 20-30 unarmed Germans run into tank and try to climb tank tower ?!? And then Brad Pitt kills i dont know how many Germans without any German shooting back ?!? End was stupid 6 year old fantasy Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Audience Member Brad Pitt killed it in this movie... very sad story though...
