Get a Job Reviews
The weirdly stacked cast does not save this unfunny frankly a little boring and poorly made film.
Unfocused trying to be an ensemble movie just fast walks through its plot. I never cared about any of the characters enough to see if they did something.
Yeah, pretty bad. Very few funny moments
I liked the characters and the actors, there is some really good humor in here, and an interesting premise about downsizing and self worth. Unfortunately, the last 3rd tries to go in too many zany directions and it kind of derails things. I preferred Company Men, although this is funnier in an offbeat sort of way.
A refreshing insight into what the job market is really like these days for all ages. Could almost be a new reality tv series or documentary. Life is not all peaches and working out what you want to do with your life and finding your place in the world is a tough gig. Schools don't do enough to prepare our kids for the real world and it's a real shame.
Great flick. Old school feel.
After College, millennial Wil (Miles Teller) and his friends are having problems getting jobs in their career fields, as is his recently-retrenched dad (Bryan Cranston). With Anna Kendrick also in the cast, there is much potential, however, it is largely unrealised as everyone appears to just be going through the motions with a mediocre script.
If there's a societal statement under the titular relation, then it's pitifully sad via reflection. An uninspired, missed opportunity in the thematic tackle that should've followed the similarly-handed prompt with prior narratives being more successfully acclaimed and agreed upon relatability. Only for this poorly-tasted sense of direction going for the single thought of frivolously delivering an unfunny punchline to certify in self-contradiction as pointless. (C-)
An amazing concept bridged down by a weak storyline, yet built up in anticipation and comedy by a well-performing cast. It tries to send some mixed messages, contradicting itself, but that allows for some good outreach and growth for the characters.
TOXIC!!!! This movie was one on the worst pieces of trash I have ever seen. I cringed the entire movie at all the outdated TOXIC masculinity plots within the movie. I can't believe all these great actors were involved in such a disgusting creepy movie. Literally making "iStalkU" app in the movie to stalk girls and being praised for it....I would give this a 0%. Men getting jobs for suppling other men with hookers....gross. GROSS!!!
I like the three main actors in this but my god this was terrible writing with dumb humor.
This is a prime example that even with a talented cast bad writing will completely ruin a movie. Get a job was not funny and felt like a bunch of unnecessary lewd jokes crammed into an already bad script.

Depicting all millenials as privileged, entitled losers? Depicting becoming a schoolteacher as some kind of abject life failure? Depicting older people who have worked the same job their whole career as hopelessly incompetent and not up-to-date with the modern world? In this film's universe, the only worthwhile jobs are in corporate finance (if you can survive the hazing) and starting your own company despite having little experience (because you've got the financial backup to take that risk, I guess). The filmmakers seem to harbor contempt for ordinary people and their ordinary jobs and ordinary lives. Which is ironic, as they can't manage even a quarter-way decent effort of their own job. An insult to the cast, crew, subject matter, comedy genre and quite possibly the film medium itself.
How you can make a film this bad whit Anna Kendrick as one your main characters is amazing to me. Little plot, no humor, and absolutely no script.
one of the worst movies ive seen in awhile - which is so annoying because it has a really likable charismatic cast! but it just doesn't make any sense and there are little storylines that are never picked up again and the characters are so underdeveloped. so disappointing but ii guess its a quirky fun movie... it just feels like what a 28-30+ year old thinks that 22 year olds are doing. and
