Such a fun and entertaining sequel, but not quite as good as the original. Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray are fantastic.

Watched this again recently and in light of the all-female reboot, and the two recent sequels, this is easily the second best Ghostbusters movie on film.

Huh, I forgot Ghostbusters 2 even existed. And probably a good reason to. Extremely forgettable!

Not as excellent as the original, but still a fun romp with the original Ghostbusters team. This one clearly takes a lot of influence from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon series, which isn't a bad thing per se - but it loses the edge that the first film definitely had.

The sequels back then were much better than today.

As a sequel, it's simply adequate. There was hardly anything new, just retreading old plot points from the first movie, making it seem like the studio didn't care about making the sequel. You think after the first one's creativity and success the studio would've at least considered trying something new with the sequel and actually caring about it? Instead, we were left with a recycled storyline that lacked the fresh energy that made the original special. The characters felt flat, as if they were just going through the motions rather than experiencing any real growth or development. The chemistry that was so apparent in the first film seemed forced this time around. Additionally, the humor and emotional stakes missed the mark, leaving the audience wanting more depth and originality. It's disappointing to see a franchise that had so much potential take the easier route, prioritizing familiarity over innovation. In a landscape filled with sequels and reboots, it’s crucial for studios to strive for originality, so audiences don’t feel like they’re watching the same movie twice.

Horribly underrated when compared to the first film but it’s still amazing and funny

This movie often carries a bad reputation, however, I feel it is a worthy followup to the original. The cast really gets to shine as they expand on their characters and we get a new menacing villain in the form of Vigo. The visual effects are also a bit more polished than the original. It's a fun, entertaining ride from start to finish that carries on the legacy of the original.

Despite falling ever so slightly short of the high bar set by its predecessor - which is no disgrace - Ghostbusters 2 remains a more than worthy sequel which carries a warm message about the power of humanity. If anything, the chemistry between these much loved characters is stronger, the relationships even tighter - and the villains just as memorable.

Not a bad movie and rather fun in most parts, but the statue of liberty coming to life from the ectoplasm was a bit ridiculous.

Not as good as the first film but is still a brilliant film with good concepts

I think this was a serviceable sequel. It did some expansion on the story and the acting was okay. My only issue was the retread of the stuff that was done in the previous installment. I did like the villain however and the lore behind him. The story was okay. I know around this time they were also trying to appeal more to kids since the real Ghostbusters cartoon was out. I think that was a misstep. I still liked the film even with that said.

I honestly saw this first as a kid. It's a classic with all the craziest ideas. Plenty of ghosts, plenty of laughs and a really crazy idea for a villain-a haunted painting of a wizard. At this point it is the only time you get real time with the original cast before Harold Ramis passed away. The franchise as a whole seems to work at its best with creativity on superstition and a cast of blue collar workers. I'll always love this movie.

It’s a good movie but not as good as the original.
