What to Know

Critics Consensus

Deploying sledgehammer theatrics instead of delivering its message with a dose of good faith, God's Not Dead makes for bad drama and an unconvincing argument to the unconverted.

Mike McCahill Guardian Ban this sick filth. Rated: 1/5 Apr 17, 2014 Full Review Claudia Puig USA Today Despite the campus setting, little about the story is intelligently designed. Rated: 2/4 Apr 8, 2014 Full Review Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle Any just God would likely recoil from the ham-fisted and spurious defense put forth in this film. patrishia T Deny me before man i will deny you before my father....let that sink in ....it's better to have never known me than to have known me and turned away...... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/25 Full Review Daniel P I recommend anyone that wants to see the hypocrisy of the religious in one, 2 hour waste of time, look no further. Theres only one bad guy, and he never even meets the main character. Kevin sorbo does and incredible job depicting Christian moral absolutist, while claiming to be an atheist. even the main character argues he isnt an atheist and I have to agree. He isn't. The main character copies tired and bad arguments for the existence of evil, ie including but not limited to "free will", which is such a bad argument, I wish Christians of all denominations would stop defending their religion with it. The only Muslim in the movie, which could have done fine without, is of course an evil bad guy, that beats his daughter for being Christian, which if you know anything about Muslims, they are incredibly hard to convert, because you are trying to convince them that their prophet Isa, is god. Hard sell. There are no atheists not depicted a pompous assholes that fall for the Authority logical fallacy. Its a goofy movie, highly recommended if you want to laugh at cringe content for 2 hour straight. This movie is the perfect depiction of the victim fetish, that many Christians pretend they have. Its funny that the chick that got cancer, still had cancer at the end of the movie, but at least she was happy buying in on the delulu. she also never meets the main character. For more on the nose content, they could have dressed her as a goth witch, and made her into horoscopes and crystals, but unfortunately they missed that mark. The main character is pretty good, I disagree with all of his arguments because they are incredibly bad, besides his argument against his professor Kevin s. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review N B Don't let all the haters dissuade you from watching this movie; they have already made up their mind on the question of faith hence their rotten reviews, pun intended ;-)...if you are really searching for the truth it will provide some answers on mainstream theories out there...if you want to ban this movie, it just speaks to your beliefs and political tendencies Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review ds 1 This film's sheer existence feels like proof that God is dead. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review M.A. H Pensé que iba a ser una película aburrida a juzgar por la calificación de algunos críticos. Sin embargo resultó ser un excelente entretenimiento para toda la familia. Muy recomendable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Seth V This movie has been on my list to watch for a while. Now that I have seen it, yes it is cheesy at times, but overall I loved it. A lit of people in reviews complain about the use of science, but actually in the setting they're in, that was a smart move. Science is just our knowledge and study of God's creations. Life is a fine line, everyone must find they're balance, else they loose focus and fall. Trust in the Lord and you will find balance.
