Its not Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels but is in the same genre. It was sharp, good dialogue and believable. Not sure what some of the bad reviews are about. Well worth a look.

This movie starts out a little under quality and substance, BUT, keep watching because the last third gets very interesting, full of twists that make it mix the comedy and the drama very well. It does work, and I found it worth watching.

This movie is all over the map. Not having a cohesive storyline is just the first of its many problems. The only character that remains true is done quite well by Charlize Theron and I believe it's because she is such a good actress. What a waste of a performance. And a waste of my time to watch.

First, the title is terrible. Just awful. Next: the plot is too convoluted. I can think of at least three ways it could've been streamlined, made more comprehensible, AND more enjoyable. Finally: the likable characters are overshadowed by the disgusting characters. And ALL of them are so shuffled about in this lumpy stew of a plot that we never get to KNOW any of them except Harold and the two villains, neither of whom we WANT to know. Charlize Theron commits completely to her amoral sociopath of a character, she certainly can't be faulted for that, and perhaps if Edgerton's character weren't such a two-dimensional Rat Bastard with no other motive than Sex & Money, and a thin one at that, he might be fun to loathe. The real problem here is that it isn't a comedy, but it's treated as such. There's truly nothing funny about this movie. Nothing. There is NOTHING funny about a pitiful man being used and abused by everyone he cares about. There's NOTHING funny about a Mexican drug cartel and a bunch of violent men running around shooting and killing each other - particularly when these things are ACTUALLY HAPPENING on a daily basis just across that border, when people's lives are being ruined and people are ACTUALLY being kidnapped, mutilated, tortured, disappeared, and murdered over drugs. It's just not a great source of comedy. Why anyone would look at that situation and think, "EUREKA! I've got a great idea for a slapstick black comedy!" is beyond imagining. This entire cast is far, far superior to the material they're working with. It makes one wonder if the original script was far better than the finished product indicates.

"Gringo" is that type of film that we don't create expectations when we see it, except that at the beginning the Film presents us with quality comedy and a suspense destined to cause, Charlize Theron offers a different role and David Oyelowo is a rising star .

Gringo is an all right film script is messy and it suffers from miscasting as well. Charlie’s Theron is terribly miss cast. There’s a decent amount of action but the film could’ve been better. A decent effort but you’ll probably be hoping for more.

A good laugh. It is what ot is. Do not over analyse it. Just enjoy the ride.

Ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances fights for justice in this comedy action movie. You will find David Oyelowo's character sympathetic but be left with a sour aftertaste regarding tropes propagated by the other characters. Where is there a nuanced female character in this movie that is not in some way damaged and over-sexualised a saint or an underdog with no agency?

This was marketed as a stoner comedy which it's really not so I understand why people expecting one movie would be disappointed with the slow pace and drama. Not all the pieces fit and it does run a little long but this is a decent unique crime dramedy. The entire cast is great, David Oyelowo is amazing how he weaves the over the top comedic performance with the heart breaking moments. It's not really going for any particular genre so again, I understand why people may feel this isn't funny enough or action packed enough but I dig it. If you dig this, check out the director's fantastic show on FX, "Mr Inbetween".
