Jake (Matthew Knight), who nearly lost his mind after battling a vicious Japanese curse, is living in a mental hospital. Dr. Sullivan (Shawnee Smith) is assigned to determine if his wild stories are true. A trip to Jake's apartment convinces her that they are, and Sullivan soon discovers that the vengeful spirits Toshio (Shimba Tsuchiya) and Kayako (Aiko Horiuchi) have latched onto a new family. Only the mysterious Naoko (Emi Ikehata) knows how to stop them once and for all.

Watched on its own, "The Grudge 3" is a disappointment; viewed after a better horror film - such as "Saw VI," also released in 2009 - and it teaches valuable lessons.

The Grudge 3 isn't perfect, and sometimes the film feels like it's trying a little too hard to emulate Shimizu's work. Ultimately though, the 3rd act left me feeling like the series had finally come to a satisfying resolution.

There's no way to sugarcoat it, this movie just kind of sucks all around. Not only does it completely misunderstand what makes the earlier entries scary, it completely undermines the entire premise on which the franchise is built.

This movie is worse than the second movie. It is boring and has nothing to it. More stupid characters, boring scenes that fill the movie, and barely scary deaths by or not the Grudge. The movie has nothing to it and it has no enjoyment to it. I did like the gangster in the movie who killed his family, he was cool (literally). I liked his swag and how he walks. (Sorry I just had to). This movie is stupider than stupid. I rate this movie a 3/10 (Bad).

Synopsis
