Wilbur), who is targeting Tommy Doyle (Paul Stephen Rudd), a young man tied into the legacy of the killer and his connections with the Strode family. As the supernatural elements of Michael's macabre abilities are explored, his longtime adversary, Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence), is also back in yet another attempt to stop the psychopath's brutal rampages.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers trades the simple, brutal effectiveness of the original for convoluted mysticism, with disastrously dull results.

John Hartl Seattle Times Instead of sending up the current glut of serial-killer movies, the filmmakers trot out the old slasher tactics. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 29, 2014 Full Review Derek Adams Time Out Slicker than crude oil and just as unattractive. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Daniel M. Kimmel Variety Run-of-the-mill horror item is notable only for final appearance of the late Donald Pleasance Apr 29, 2005 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media While not the worst of the series, it's unsurprising that the installment that followed three years later brought back Curtis to take a much stronger stab at getting the series back on track. Feb 22, 2024 Full Review Brian Rowe InSession Film Here’s an installment in the Halloween franchise with two vastly different versions—and they’re both bad. May 3, 2023 Full Review Cody Leach Cody Leach (YouTube) The commendable atmosphere is tainted by a ridiculous story and incoherent editing. This sequel is notorious for it's production issues and multiple cuts. It's unfortunate that neither officially-released cut is a good version of this movie. Garry A The mythology they made up is interesting, but ridiculous. They defaged Michael. The mask looks better than in 4 & 5. The kills aren't scary. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review John R It was alright, seeing ant man was cool Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Josh A It's safe to say that the Thorn Trilogy is one messy ride, but does it stick the landing? Kind of. This isn't a great finale, sure, but it's a pretty good film compared to Halloween 5. It also kinda restores the ending of Halloween 4, where Michael's evil lives on and will always live on. The actual film is pretty solid. It's decently entertaining, feels the most connected to the original film out of the trilogy's entries and has solid acting. Michael Myers is also cool, still being the stalker threat that he's always been, and his mask is way better than it is in the fifth film, as I quite liked his mask in the fourth film. It also has an interesting ending, with Dr. Loomis taking the evil inside Michael. It's not done as well as Halloween 4's ending, but it's done well enough. But the aspect I want to talk about is the Cult of Thorn. It's an interesting concept, similar to Halloween 3's plot. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Halloween 3 is a side story in the Thorn Timeline. That might be my new headcanon. But it does have its issues, as it makes Michael's character feel cheaper, as he's just a pawn for a cult. But as a concept, it's pretty good and well executed. So I can forgive it. Nothing wrong with experimentation. Overall, an alright movie, but I'm glad that I've finished the Thorn Trilogy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Jerod S Michael is back, but the cult thing makes his return a little messier and complicated that fun. The appeal to him to save the baby in the end almost ruined it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/25 Full Review Skibidi T I think this movie was great! They did amazing. But I wasn't a huge fan of the sound effects and the flashing and slow motion. But still, great movie 4/5 Stars Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Daniel C This movie was a big improvement over Halloween 5. This Halloween is the first time they used Michael Myers more brutal and violent as usual which is very enjoyable. The story may be strange but it makes sense and it's not bad. This movie has the absolute best character of Michael Myers. It's a better movie than the critics say Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
