Hannah Gadsby: Something Special Reviews
I thought it was pretty ok...until that ending. That's when I could REALLY appreciate it. Looking back, it's pretty brilliant.
Hannah never disappoints. The stories are real, honest and surprising. Loved it.
Comedy is supposed to be raw and funny not bland and boring
She actually tried to be funny in this one and it was serious cringe, especially with the constant canned laughter
She is as funny as an Rock in the San Andreas Rift. Ther is absolutly nothing funny about this Comidian. Her Storys are not funny, they are pur hate and racisem. She is to stupid to see this and all the "experts" who say this is good, a littel tipp "GET SOME FUCKING HELP!"
Unwatchable. Not funny in the slightest.
This is not special, it is painful. I don't understand why critics say this is good.
The critics lied for sure.
Yes, this doesn't have the impact of Nanette. Put that thought aside, and you will get a really good comedy special with some classic Gadsby spice in there.
So bad, bordering on annoying. Hannah Gadsby just isn't funny to me at all.
I would love it if they were funny. Meh. I know jokes are subjective, but I just didn't find it funny. Was painful to listen to the forced social commentary. I just was hoping to laugh at a comedy show.
Brilliantly hilarious, as usual! I saw that some folks (especially *ahem* those who I assume are straight men) didn't like it much, but you have to watch past the first ten minutes or so! I admit that the first ten minutes or so are not super funny, but that's because she tends to do a lot of context providing and subtle setting up for her *later* jokes, which are then HILARIOUS, and so smart! So, you gotta watch the whole thing, or else you're really in a poor position to judge the work. Anyway, I don't think this is her funniest special, but she nevertheless brought her A-game to the topics, so it's still super funny.
This was funny and entertaining but it was missing the edge of Gadsby's two previous Netflix specials. Here they joke about meeting Jodie Foster and getting married. It's a pretty conventional comedy special with lots of observational, personal jokes.
What the hell did I just watch? Sure this is a social experiment as it's not a comedy any way you look at it.
Was it funny? No, not really. Was it the worst special I've seen recently? No. Taken as a one woman show, it was sort of interesting at times. I just wouldn't call this standup, since the jokes, at best, didn't land; and at worst weren't even jokes in the first place. Having an Aussie accent and a unique perspective, due to being gay and on the spectrum, doesn't necessarily mean you are all that funny or entertaining
Yawn. More like a self-help group ramble than entertainment. Occasional moments, but plodding and long-winded. Not her best work.
Not to my taste. She is a confident performer with a good command of the stage but her observations are sophomoric, open mic level stuff i.e I don't like to go to the beach because weeks later I'm still finding sand everywhere yuk yuk. Aside from that it's self indulgent clapter bait.
She's not as angry as she usually is so there's some improvement, however she's still a very angry person and that makes me sad for her. But the biggest problem with Hannah is she's not actually a comedian. Some of her remarks made me think, but I don't think I laughed once to be perfectly honest. Maybe she should do social commentary on one of the news networks but comedy just isn't her thing.
She's tolerable when she's sharing stories about her life or growing up, but when she actually tries to be funny there's a meanness and evilness about her comments that don't make me laugh at all. I know many kinds of people from all walks of life and while we all do silly things, or even dumb things, I never hate my fellow man or woman like she seems to.
She is so herself and she is so funny. Loved it!
