Honeymoon in Vegas Reviews

Feb 14, 2024

The story of one bride and two grooms. Jack Singer (Nicolas Cage) is a commitment phobic detective madly in love with his girlfriend Betsy Nolan (Sarah Jessica Parker), but due to a promise made to his mother on her deathbed he is unable to truly make her happy. One night Jack throws caution to the wind and decides to marry her in Las Vegas, but when wealthy mobster Tommy Korman (James Can) notices that Betsy bears a striking resemblance to his late wife Donna he hatches a scheme. Using a poker game to con Jack and make him owe $65,000. Tommy however will forgive the debt if Jack lets him spend time with Betsy. But, he must act fast before Tommy snatches her away for good. Loaded with an Elvis heavy soundtrack, this is a pretty funny screwball comedy that has everything you'd expect and unexpect.

The plot is centered on a good enough idea that should work as an offbeat romantic comedy, but it just never becomes as fun or as funny as the film promises.

I love this movie. It's a light, quirky, fun comedy. Always makes me laugh and cheers me up.

Imagine paying to own this movie (oh wait, I did) Rubbing alcohol will not be able to wash my eyes clean after watching this movie. Viseral reactions were felt and heeby jeebies were experienced. I literally deleted this movie from my amazon prime account because I was so horrified that I had paid money to watch it and would have to be reminded of it every time I logged in. I wish I could turn back time and tell myself to not watch this movie. If I could give it -5 stars I would.

A comedy classic that never got its due. Nick Cage and Jimmy Caan are their best selves in this funny, tightly written and fast moving '92 time capsule. Outstanding Elvis score and a constant parade of character actors makes this a helluva fun time.

It has been years since I've seen Honeymoon in Vegas, and while it wasn't as hilarious as I remembered it to be, it's still a charming romantic comedy. The unique combination of Nicholas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker, James Caan, and a bunch of Elvis impersonators seems like a strange one, but it actually works. Go ahead and roll the dice on this ridiculous movie, you may actually enjoy it.

Easy going and fun. Very slick team of professionals created the whole project - yet, the result is a feel good flick, worth watching.

Story/Screenplay: (3.5/5) This is not a lighthearted comedy, but it has its lighter moments. The overarching story, however, has got a darker side that becomes evident towards the end, putting a bit of a damper on the "romance" component of this story. Duration/Tempo: (3.5/5) At 1 hour and 36 minutes, it's a short movie that felt average in length. Not bad. Cast & Crew: (4/5) Sarah Jessica Parker was excellent. Loved Nicolas Cage's performance, and James Caan was perfectly cast as the third side of this love triangle. Summary: (3.5/5) The story and cast were good and the film didn't feel long. A thumbs up.

Only Cage worked in this.

Once you get over that this movie is 28-years-old it unfolds like a pretty standard movie whether then or now. I may have seen it before, back when it came out, but I couldn't remember anything about it because there were a few movies of this sort that were set in Vegas and came out around the same time. Not bad, not great... just an average movie with it's biggest flaw being that it was a comedy that could have used more comedians involved because it wasn't funny enough. 2 1/2 of 5

Pretty weak. James Caan not cut out for comedy. Only bright note: Sarah Jessica Parker looks great.

A man takes his girlfriend to Vegas to get married but he essentially loses her to a shark in a poker bet. In order to pay off the debt, his fiancee must spend the weekend with the gambling shark (James Caan). This comedy is definitely different and not for all tastes, but at its core, is a simple entertaining comedy that's worth a look.

I'm a huge fan of writer/director Andrew Bergman. He has a very distinct comedy voice in his films ("The In-Laws," "So Fine" or "The Freshman") and no one makes modern screwball comedies like he does. The plot has a situation ripe for comedy and is one I could easily have seen Preston Sturges' stock company of actors putting on. Nick Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker go off to Vegas to get marries, but Cage loses all his money to Jame Caan, who has designed on Parker. Caan will forgive the debt if he can spend the weekend with Parker. This film gets credit for predating "Indecent Proposal" by a year and this film actually handles the same dilemmas much better and with far fewer pretensions. Besides the three main leads, you also get a great supporting cast that includes. Pat Morita, Anne Bancroft, Peter Boyle, Seymour Cassel, Ben Stein, Tony Shalhoub, and a 5-year old Bruno Mars as Little Elvis. The film's composer, David Newman, also deserves credit for a peppy comic filmscore. Rematching this film now, it wasn't quite as funny as I remembered, but it's still a very enjoyable comedy with a very likable cast, who all manage to take a rather skeezy set up and manage to keep it from dipping into sleaze.

Stupid plot but Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker had great chemistry. Also i love the Elvis theme

Movies like this (ones with a completely absurd premise) you're supposed to just enjoy for the laughs, and while it has a few of them, the story is just so silly that it's hard to take it seriously.

Funny but forgettable

who Knew Nicholas Was So Damn Hairy!!? Comic Timing, Not Bein' His Best Suit, He'd Probably Had Fared Better In One Of The Elvis Get-Ups.. Which Kinda Happens Near The End, But Still, Mediocre Laughs Here..Not Much Else.

The script is nothing great, the actors do their jobs, but what makes this movie is the flying Elvises or Elvi.
