The House Bunny Reviews
silly and fun and doesn't try to be anything more than it can.
Silly and fun, it doesn't deserve the low rating it has.
The fact that this movie has a 44% at the time of writing is complete and utter lunacy. House Bunny is unfathomably iconic, quotable, and one of the best movies of its time. Next time you watch, listen real good and hard so you can hear just how funny every line is.
The House Bunny - 7/10. I needed a comedy to watch, and a couple of people recommended watching this film. I’m surprised it took me a long time to watch this, considering that I’m a fan of Farris, Stone, and Dennings. I miss movies like this: silly, cliched, over the top, and just lacking in realism but filled with cheesy heart. The 90’s and 00’s were rife with films like this, and it seems like they just don’t make movies like this anymore. We’ve also failed Anna Faris as a star, because she’s such a good comedic actress. I get it that she made it big with the Scary Movie franchise, but her solo career post those movies should’ve been bigger. Technically, this movie was a hit, but it really should have made more money in the box office. The House Bunny is your typical fish out of water story. But here, the fish is able to help open and change the minds of the people she meets, and in turn, they help open and change her mind as well. Surprisingly though, even through this Sandler produced product, we get interesting commentary towards our views on beauty and how it affects perception on others. There’s moments in this film where a simple joke actually ends up being very philosophical and heart touching (I’m not kidding). And just like in the movie Accepted, we get a last minute speech which is supposed to be a slightly funny speech, but ends up being a well written and actually deep message. I miss movies like this. They’re not perfect, but they do pass the time and make you remember that comedies could just be plain old fun!
Decently funny with a cute but basic message about self acceptance. Easy for a mindless couple hours
This is an okay comedy. The story itself is lame. It could have used several more drafts of the script. The film has a talented cast including Anna Faris, Emma Stone, Kat Dennings, Beverly D'Angelo, and Chris McDonald. Unfortunately, D'Angelo and McDonald don't factor into the story enough. The film feels like a studio ordered a zany college comedy with hot girls and didn't care about the script. The characters aren't memorable, there is no great development for any of them. The growth we do see from the characters is rushed and feels unearned. Anna Faris carried the movie and her style of comedy is the only thing that really landed throughout the film. It has its moments and is okay, but it's not a film worth watching a second time.
It's a happy Madison production all these movies in another 10 ,15 years are gonna be cult classics. They all have some sort of Quirky funny sense to them and there just amazing
Some funny parts but was not that good
a not so bad chick flick
I watch it 10 times a week, and I always think it's wonderful.
É uma versão um pouco piorada de meninas malvadas, mas o filme é lotado de piadas sem graça e clichês.
Think of this as a reverse Revenge of the Nerds with women Anna Faris of 'Scary Movie' fame stars as Shelley She resides in the infamous Playboy Mansion after spending her childhood with no family She dreams of being a centerfold but because of a jealous bunny she's told she has to leave Shelley then ends up living at a sorority house The tenants are in danger of losing their home unless they get popular and have the ultimate party to get pledges Shelley has to show more than being a glamour-filled female even if she's too dim witted Clearly this movie was meant for the teenage mindset featuring loads of beautiful women There are attempts to knock down the beauty standards set by others, makeovers don't have to be the answer, the male fantasy can't be so archaic, you should love who you are as well be loved by others not just the physical There's plenty of debates here about natural beauty vs being glammed up Although it's very muddled It's not too funny all the way through and it's highly forgettable But Faris does what she can with the material
just dont watch this
Amazing fun movie to watch.
"The House Bunny" is exactly what you expect after looking at the poster. Anna Faris is perfectly cast and acts her heart out. The story is incredibly dumb, and the plot devices are full of cliches, but that is part of the charm. The villains are underwhelming, the supporting cast has some stars (Emma Stone!) and there is a clear "early 2000's" feel throughout. I laughed way too hard at Shelley repeating the names back in the exorcist voice. While the movie isn't anything particularly memorable, I immediately wanted to watch another project like it. Best Character: Shelley Best Quote: "Harmony." ... "Carrie Anne." ... "Joanne." ... "Natalie." Best Scene: The Manhole scene
Such an underrated classic. Anna Faris at her best!

Anna Faris especially but really the entire cast shine but the script is confused, seeming to revel in its characters misfortune and stupidity.
After being booted out of the Playboy Mansion, the likeable but vacuous Shelley (Anna Faris) finds herself at the Zeta Alpha Zeta sorority as the resident house mother. At risk of losing their house as the result of dwindling membership, Shelley manages to spruce up the homely young women on the way to saving the day. The House Bunny has its fair share of laughs and Anna Faris gives it all that she has, but eventually the movie just feels like it runs out of steam, thanks in large part to the repetitive nature of the jokes and the predictability of the superficial story. By the time things wrap up, you can't help but feel that you've just watched a tamer female version of Revenge of the Nerds.
