Melinda P Maybe if I were to start all over without the notion I was given going in that this is a romantic story... if instead I'd gone in with a better introduction, that this is a dramatic story of two individuals who happen to be patient and nurse in a psych ward, both traumatized by overwhelming life events, and how their experiences intersect - WITHOUT ANY ACTUAL CONNECTION - I might see it differently. I might have been more invested in the drama and pathos rather than looking for the happy that the title pronounces, or the romance genre that it somehow got pegged into. Instead I've ended up flat, beaten up by the ordeal of peeking into two awful lives, a bit shocked by the ending, and frankly disappointed. This is compounded by the brief moments near the beginning, when Mansu was still able to smile and it seemed like there really was a promise of romance, however unlikely in that situation, that was going to be fulfilled. A weird meet cute but I do love an improbable fairy tale - but no, that did not happen. At all. Looking back at what WAS in the movie, was a lot of drama, with a few flashes of humanity and at times, tiny bits of humor (amongst the psych patients, ala One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest patient interactions) - and of that drama, in my opinion too much of it devolved from what seemed like a pretty realistic numbness born of unfortunate circumstances and a natural reaction of depression, quickly escalating to the kind of embarrassing over-reacting drama of a soap opera or a teen drama queen cafeteria spat.
