Solid supernatural folk horror/mystery. Creepy setting and atmosphere, an unsettling plot, and strong acting and direction. However, it was bogged down a bit by some highly questionable judgment exhibited by the lead characters and a third act that was more than a little confusing. (Admittedly, the confusion could just be a "me problem" and not necessarily a flaw in the film itself.) It was pretty good and well worth a watch, but it just didn't quite stick the landing.

Não dou uma nota máxima pelo seu clímax não ter me comovido como esperava, mas ainda assim é uma boa história.

One of the best folk horror movies ever!

Solid horror movie. Great pacing, good acting and storyline. I never lost interest. There were a few moments where the decisions felt irrational, but given the genre, you have to give some leeway to some of those moments. Worth the watch.

Really great folk horror steeped in the culture of the region. More of a slow burn than a kill fest. Really cool cinematography and cheesy yet effective effects. Very effective low-budget horror.

it succeeds at building atmosphere at first, and the setting can be very nice to look at. i think some of the dialogue early in the film is convoluted and unnecessary, but the character that i didn't like has a fairly small part. i have to take some points off because the montage near the end that's supposed to reveal the twist is just a little too vague without narration, and it also isn't much of a twist since it's heavily hinted at. other parts of the film were very clearly narrated, so i was sort of at a loss for some of it re: who died or if they were pretending to be someone else. the climax of the film and the actual ending were a bit much as well, and it wasn't clear what the actual source of the curse was vs what rumors were being passed around. overall, production values and the story are quite nice, although if this is based on folklore then i have to wonder how many villages thought they were cursed because of pollution causing birth defects.

Great horror movie with a plot focused on pagan and folklore traditions. It resembles "The Amulet" and "Midsommar".

My experience watching Indonesian Horror Movies is never truly as amazing as this one. The movie is how a culture and mystical things should be representated. The story is very substantial. I enjoyed it.

Satan's Slaves was definitely better. But this is alright.

A compelling sense of balance in this blend of horror and the perfect amount of drama. We'll start to hear from Indonesian culture more and more often for the years to come.

It is a refreshing movie in the horror genre, that some might find it too strange or boring, but that is great at its manner. The characters could have been more likeable and the soundtrack more compelling, but the jumpscares were scary and it has some chilling scenes.

Solid cinematography, great casting and rather watchable all in all, but the resolution felt too tidy/basic to be particilarly memorable.

An Indonesian folklore horror. A woman inherits a house in her ancestral village, but she's unaware that members of the community have been trying to locate and kill her to remove the curse that has plagued them for years. What I liked the most was the atmosphere, which was very creepy and got me a bit on edge for the first half. Also, the story was interesting and pretty messed up. Despite this, I didn't find this movie to be that scary. Overall, it's a decent horror. 7/10

A woman down on her luck goes with her best friend to visit the village of her deceased parents in hopes that there remains an inheritance that can help their ailing business. If only the villagers didn't view her as the cause of a decades old curse. The opening sequence alone makes this film worth watching. Fortunately, the rest of the film, while not as perfect, is still excellent. The chemistry between best friends Maya and Dini is great and it almost made me sad that this wasn't a slice-of-life film instead because I would watch an entire series about these two women trying to get their clothing business up and running. Delivers up plenty of traditional scares, dread, and ghosts in this folk horror tale as well. Casting and acting is on point, story is good, camera work is effective and effects were well done. Pacing at the end was knocked off a bit with some information overload and flashbacks, but the climax makes up for it. Keep watching until the end for the last scene. Highly recommended.

Though the setting and content were fresh to me, there were a few too many tropes between start and finish to keep me fully engaged. Still, worth a watch if you're in the mood for some folk horror.
