Incarnate Reviews

Oct 29, 2023

The movie was a rumbling mess. It had a very predictable plot, if you can even call it that, and had little to no scares in it. Over all I would say it had very predictable "Plot twists" and plot.

It's a bad sign if Aaron Eckhart is your headlining actor and it ripped off too many things from Inception. Still, it was at least passable.

Nothing to get invested in, and the plot is as thin as can be. Ending was not a surprise. I felt nothing from this movie.

Best movie EVER - If you like Insidious, you will love this. Insidious is hard to follow, but this does it in the most amazing way!

I don't know where INCARNATE came from. If this was ever a wide release, I must've missed it. And as far as possession movies go (there's your grain of salt), it's pretty good. Because of past trauma, Ekhart's character has a terse attitude that sets an appropriate tone for the movie. Having to chase the devil into the victim's mind rather than drive the devil out of the soul is a fun ride. Unfortunately, for a movie that argues a scientific explanation about entities and possession, this lacks a significant explanation about how any of Ekhart's abilities are possible. I like magic as much as the next guy (or whatever), but the whole point of saying there's a scientific explanation is that there is one. Not in this feature, which is a big miss. All is not lost hwoever, as the stories inside the victim's minds are rather cleverly put together and some of the demons are pretty good at how they manipulate the stories to hold the victims minds. While it's not the best possession movie, it's actually clever in a way that's fresh, showing devils as subtle manipulators and not just raging anger balls with black teeth and dark eyeliner.

I don't know it's possible to come with dumber idea for a movie. The acting almost as bad. If I could it give 0/5 I would.

Definitely had some novel ideas I've never seen used in horror before. However, the middle of the film dragged, no genuine scares, and the ending was easy to spot from a mile away. The specifics of the background plot of possession and exorcism were easy to follow while being unique, but the film is only worth watching because it is short (less than 90 minutes). Don't expect much and you may be mildly entertained.

Inception in a horror movie, could have been a decent idea but turns into a jumbled mess of a film. Aaron Eckhart slumming it up big time here and deserves so much better

I didn’t think it was this good but can’t figure out what all putrid reviews are for. I’ve seen much worse and Elkhart is really good in this

Pros: Brad Peyton uses pacing to make his movies feel original and fun Cool concept Great performance by Aaron Eckhart Cons: Remains very tame visually for the subject matter Doesn't cash fully on the uniqueness of a tired exorcism plot Poor dialogue in parts

While an interesting take on possession, a little to slow and cheesy at times.

Inception + Constantine x Insidious = Incarnate. If you spent money to watch this then you've spent too much.

It has a unique premise for a horror movie, even if it is just Inception plus The Exorcist. Sadly this movie falters in its execution, or lack thereof.

Incarnate doesn't feel like much of a movie. It has an interesting premise that recycles way too many ideas from other exorcism movies. Aaron Eckhart gives a good performance but there's very little else to recommend about the movie. Bland plot, and at times feels like a half baked version of the exorcistic and inception.

Bad movie. Feeling like a combined ripoff of Inception, Flatliners and The Exorcist, this film is an unoriginal, unscary and uninvolving piece the begs the question, “Why would these good people work on this shite?”

I thought the movie was great and I really hope that there is a sequel
