India Sweets and Spices Reviews
Overall, this film certainly has drama and heart relating to family. The topics and themes are relatable, believable, and rather touching. While there's a lot of cinema joy to be had, I am disappointed to admit that I didn't care for the romance elements, which felt highly forced, and weak and weren't required to tell a compelling story. Fans of Crazy Rich Asians, this is certainly one for you.
Honestly I watched a little and it probably isn’t even a bad movie . Just not a movie for me 2.0
This could have been a film about any nationality, but it's so homogenized, it doesn't illustrate anything about Indian culture. Instead, the screenplay could have been out of the 80s and a coming of age drama or any other crap draft sitting around. It's formula and paint by numbers and never worth the time. It's an oft-told tale that we've seen dozens of times, other than this film focusing on people from India. Filled with cliches and characters that have little nuance, sadly, this is totally missable. Final Score: 4/10
The movie starts off typical indo-american drama. Until the plot takes over and the experienced actors start to shine. Plot, though simple, is written well enough to keep us engaged. The best part of the movie is that no single actor attempts to overpower any scene. One can connect with every character's view point on the plot. Good light weight watch on a lazy day. They do vilify indo-american upper class quiet conveniently . Most probably to conclude as a happy movie.
It was misleading. Expected a Bollywood movie in Hindi Language, but it turned out to be a low budget Hollywood movie in English
All actors played their parts well, and their comedic timing was excellent. I felt the movie was excellent, and well worth seeing!
It's a very skewed depiction of Indian culture viewed through a tubular western lens. The reality among Indian families is much different. At the end of the day, Parents take care of their friend's kids as their own.
This movie was bad! No story. All about phony ignorant snobs who made a little money. Dont waste your money seeing it. Should be a free made for 온라인카지노추천 movie for ???
All rich Indians from India are superficial and shallow and cheat on their spouses. Unless of course they are poor, then they are not so bad. All Indian kids born in America are enlightened and will save the older generation. This was the message of the movie. It was very one-sighted and unlike other movies of this genre, example, Bend it like Beckham, it had no heart. The movie was cute and funny at the expense of caricaturing and demeaning an entire ethnic group. The image of India and Indians after seeing this movie would be, "People have bad arranged marriages and Delhi is dangerous for women. And all the Indians parents don't value their children and families". Very disappointing movie.
Lighthearted and entertaining.
Total waste of time and money!!
Understated and thought provoking. Also the actor who plays Varun is hot.
Exceptional acting, Deepti Gupta is amazing. Insightful about Indian-American suburban family life, especially how different generations are navigating their roles. Would love to see more films like this reflecting my experience as an Indian-American!
This film reminds me of "Crazy Rich Asians". The storyline is okay, wasn't that interesting. The acting is definitely so-so. But I am very impressed with how gorgeous the Indian costumes. The costume department absolutely did a great job!!
Really different cater to all live the story
No family is that traditional these days An Indian-American woman Alia falls for an Indian-American man at a pharmacy named Varun Yet her side of the family has a beef with a more backwards-thinking set of familials, it's like they're stuck in another decade All the women ever do is gossip She wants her independence badly yet she starts to discover her mother's horrific past involving violence, abuse, and uneasy decisions There's sweet portions and spicy portions when it comes to getting the relatives together Alia's mother is embarrassed of her past as a feminist activist for women's rights in New Delhi So she just wants to be as loud as her mother was before unashamed, unsilent but heard There's many themes of family, secrets, losing faith in a cause, growing up, life shouldn't be too easy, waking up one day not realizing who we are anymore A good watch even if it's more tv-oriented but still has a good sense of fun and feminism inside Newcomer Sophia Ali makes a good impression too
Going in, I thought this was a comedy. Well, it was definitely a drama, and a pretty good one.
