Jack Reacher Reviews
Despite his size, Tom Cruise effortlessly captures the essence of Jack Reacher in this first adaptation of Lee Child's titular ex-military police investigator. The film is a thoroughly entertaining crime thriller, featuring a standout scene—a creative beatdown in an upstairs hallway. Werner Herzog, as the head of a criminal organization, portrays a mysterious and haunting individual. His chilling accent perfectly complements the character's enigmatic persona.
Well, It's not really an action movie, unlike Mission Impossible. It's more of a drama story, sometimes a little bit boring/ to much talking/ too long scenes.: . That's why I give it a 2,5 out of 5.
Regardless of Tom Cruise's size, he was superior to the gentleman from the 온라인카지노추천 series. As usual, he makes every part he plays come alive and no one surpasses him. I have seen all of his movies more than once and appreciate him more each time!
Not a huge fan of Tom Cruise and think the movie could have been much more authentic with an actor more intimidating. Big fan of Rosamund Puke though so watched the movie.
Pretty good. Action maybe a bit lackluster here and there especially the final fight. But the story is very nice and the cast is great. Definitely a Tom Cruise classic.
Didn't think I would but I really liked this. A great mix of action, thrills and intrigue. The writing and casting was great and Tom Cruise was brilliant as always. He rarely makes a bad movie.
This movie was somehow a hit, I liked it, but not that good, the action part was kinda of poor.
One of Tom Cruise's best. Awesome movie.
I'm a casual fan of Tom Cruise, so I just watched this regardless. I didn't know much about the book, so I can't comment on how accurate it is to its source material. All I remember hearing was that the titular character was much taller in the book, therefore an actor of Tom's - ahem - 'stature' wasn't the best fit to play the giant of a man. I thought it would be more action-packed - like a kind of vigilante going round seeking revenge on your general baddies. As it turned out, it's more like a cop movie (but without a cop as the lead character). What action there is is all right, plus the acting is fair and it is not hard to see that money has been put into this movie. Tom Cruise is an ex military policeman who's investigating a seemingly motiveless sniper who killed five apparently innocent civilians. No sooner is he on the case does he meet the unfeasible attractive attorney, played by Rosamund Pike. I found this aspect of the film the most far-fetched - you know instantly that she's going to be the `will-they/won't they' love interest of the film. From then on, the film follows a typical template for this kind of movie. It's played absolutely straight (a bit like the `Bourne' films, but without the near-constant chase scenes all the way through) and it doesn't really add anything original to the genre of action/thriller movies. If you're looking for a bit of a conspiracy thriller with a plot that slowly unravels, this isn't a bad way to spend a couple of hours (plus it's nice to see Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall sharing the screen again since 'Days of Thunder'). If you can believe that every single female in America who meets Tom Cruise wants to bed him, whether she's twice his age of half his age, then you should find this enjoyable. It's been a week since I watched 'Jack Reacher' for the second time and I actually can't remember anything about it (besides what I've written above) - I think that tells me everything I need to know, i.e. that it's an enjoyable enough romp while you're watching it, but it's hardly likely to leave a long, lasting impression.
Cant believe they havent done a sequel. Yes, I know Cruise is a short-arse and the book says he is 6ft 7" but come on, really. It's a very watchable movie.
This movie is not for the squeamish and there is at least one scene that the squeamish will want to fast forward past.
3.5 stars. There is no bigger fan of the Lee Child series of Jack Reacher than I am. I have read more than half of the series (18 of 28), including the "One-Shot" book on which this movie was based. The "Jack Reacher" series is one of the best one-stop shopping combinations for mystery and action in a novel. I feel this movie is pretty loyal to the book series. I guess I don't totally understand the criticism of Tom Cruise playing the lead role. Mr. Child's literary version describes Reacher as a pretty boy who is a girl magnet, but not a playboy. He is a quiet, reserved individual who is slow to anger, but all hell breaks loose when his wire is tripped. He is a loner who wants to be left alone, but he's driven when he sees unfairness or injustice to others. Tom Cruise personifies those characteristics in his portrayal. So I guess I'm missing the point that because he's only 5' 9", or whatever, that he is not fit for the role. His height, or lack thereof, does not show up in the movie at all. And if he's not fit for an action role, someone has to explain the vast success he enjoys in "Mission Impossible" and "Top Gun" movies. Anyway, as you can tell, I enjoyed the movie much better than the 온라인카지노추천 series.
Tom Cruise is hilariously ill-suited to this role, and does a poor job of making up for it. The 온라인카지노추천 series is much more rewarding.
Jack Reacher offers good action sequences in what otherwise is a patchwork of a script, consisting of mismatched and halfbaked ideas. The premise is interesting enough, but inbetween it's hard to escape the feeling that it's all just a marketing campaign for Cruise's star persona.
Tom Cruise is not a good choice to play Jack Reacher character but he acted in his own style. Reacher look small doesn't mean he can't beat you. The movie itself is very entertaining with suspense, mystery and intense.
if i had $100 for every movie made after Jack Reacher that is not as good a flick as Jack Reacher, i would be writing (typing) this from a MUCH nicer space and seat than where i now sit.
I guess Cruise is way too short to play Reacher, but I didn't know that at the time. He does a better acting job than the 온라인카지노추천 show, although I enjoyed season 1 as well. I REALLY liked the sleuthing. It is well written, tense, and well paced. The incredible quiet of the movie adds to the tension, as well as some of the odd cinematography. Some of it was a little cheesy, like how Reacher is good at most everything and smarter than everyone, and how Duvall just decides to help him shoot people for ... whatever reasons. But i really enjoyed this flick, even on multiple rewatches.
Watching a 5’3 Scientologist would COMPLETELY kill the jack reacher image for me.. horrible casting… at least could have casted an ACTUAL man.
It's an okay detective/action movie, but there just isn't enough weight to any of it to make it a great movie. The audience gets almost nothing about the guy being framed, the hitman, or the main antagonist except a few lines of expositional dialogue that were probably thrown in after the fact.
As if Renee Zellweger was split into 2: Rosamund Pike and Danika Yarosh (in JR: Never come back).
