G M I thought at first this film was made in the 60's, it seemed so dated, and I say this as someone who lived through the 80's. This was awful! I was looking for films to show at my Jane Austen Film Fest, but would never include this. It was uneven, confusing, dull. The only bright spot was seeing a young Sean Young, pre-Blade Runner. But that's it. Not worth 5 minutes of watching. Sad, how women just allowed men to walk all over them and...hmmm. And has anything changed? I watched the film as I love Jane Austen's novels, and expected to find some of her themes and ideas in the film, but mostly the film explored power and manipulation without Austen's wry humour. Rated 1/5 Stars •  Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member seems a little dated but was great to see anne baxter and sean young(the year b4 rockin it in "blade runner") a behind the scenes look at (based on a true story) of a found jane austin play and 2 director rivals who each want to put the newly discovered play but each in a different style-one sticking true to the time and costumes the other 'modernizing' it to avant garde theater all about eve+a chorus line= this one.
