Critics Consensus

Jennifer's Body features occasionally clever dialogue, but its horror/comedy premise ultimately fails to be consistently funny or scary enough to satisfy.

Kjerstin Johnson Bitch Media It's not just a feminist thumbs down, it's like a... movie thumbs down. Dec 22, 2020 Full Review Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com What I love about this movie is, surprisingly, that Megan Fox is excellent. Rated: A- Oct 28, 2020 Full Review Mark Kermode BBC.com Not without its problems, but it is an enjoyable romp. Mar 29, 2019 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) There’s so much righteous anger in this movie, not just about the way girls are treated and about bodily autonomy, but also about the recession and America’s weird post-9/11 jingoist patriotism. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review For a horror comedy, Jennifer’s Body is conspicuously unfunny and unscary. Rated: 1/4 Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Stephanie Archer Film Inquiry While not all elements of the film fail to come together as cohesively as others, Jennifer’s Body proves itself to be one wild, satirically horrific experience. Tipiski L shouldve made a part 2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Breno G Special Effects: 0,5/Sound Effects: 0,5/Acting: 0,5/Story: 0,5 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Brianna D I just watched Jennifer's Body and I was surprised by how different it was from what I expected. It’s about a high school girl, Jennifer, who gets possessed and starts killing guys. Her best friend, Needy, starts to figure it out and tries to stop her. It’s part horror, part comedy, and has a lot of weird but cool moments. The writing was sharp, and the movie had a unique style. Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried both gave strong performances, and the soundtrack was great. I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 because while it had some really entertaining scenes and a clever twist on the horror genre, it didn’t always hit as hard emotionally. Still, it’s fun, underrated, and definitely worth watching. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Your Everyday Zelda Q I was shocked to see the rating of the movie. The film has a pretty popular fan-base and a lot of people have seen this movie. Personally I wouldn't say it's the best or the worst, it had its cool moments like the scene where Jennifer and Needy are on the bed fighting. I will say though, out of all the cult films I have seen this is one of the coolest I have seen. It did lack some scariness to it though. I don't find it the best either because it seemed a bit.. cheesy. I understood the plot of the movie but I've also seen better in other movies with the same topic. Megan Fox, of course, has magnificent acting in the film. Even Amanda Seyfried, Glorious job! I think there could've been more added to certain scenes to make it more interesting. I feel like there could've been more ways to make Jennifer scarier than just her wandering around sort of. For the film to be horror you expect it to be scary but unfortunately it really lacked it. Truly nothing shocks me more than seeing the critic reviews and ratings. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review Natalie F I absolutely! I loved this movie. It disappointed me that people didn't understand the story or anything due to bad marketing, but this movie spoke to a lot of things. it didn't deserve the hate it has got. such an iconic movie to have with us today!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Audience Member I personally love Jennifer’s Body. This movie is one of my favorites! I have seen it a million times and it’s great every time! It was funny and eerie. When I watched it for the first time I was constantly surprised. I love costume design. I feel like it’s a great twist on your class 2010’s (even though this came out in 2009) coming of age film. It’s just enough of raunchy. I love the soundtrack of this film! I felt like Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox’s portrayal of a toxic friendship while one being a demon and the other human was so well done in my opinion. This movie had a lot of deeper meanings for the plot which made the movie all the more interesting to watch. I love themes of sexuality, power and control, etc. Totally recommend this film!!!
