What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though Jolie is appealing, Life or Something Like It is too contrived and predictable to convincingly convey its message of stopping to smell the roses.

Paige L I truly love a rom com that's good. This one really did it for me...made me think and Angelina in this she is just truly flawless. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Mic L Angelina as always gives a solid performance on a relatively mundane subject. She is not out of her usual scope in this movie and the twist in the end is about as good as it gets. Could have worked out a more interesting way to address the way that a person reacts when they know that their days are counted nevertheless some cameos and some good acting is always a nice thing to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review VoicesofEden- A I signed up for Rotten Tomatoes just to be able to write this review to counter the negative holier than thou review on Forbes of this film. It is the first film I have ever watched of Angelina Jolie. The end of the film had me in tears - empowered, uplifted. This film is thoughtful, original (contrary to the 21st century corporate money by numbers film making ), and tells a story of what it means to be alive....hint - it's not having the best rating. I respect this film. I'd actually watch it again - as it inspired me to live well. If you're sick of negativity - doomsday living, drama, trauma and divisiveness, you will be thankful you watched this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Wayne D I thought it was a really good change for me from dystopian dramas and other serious movies. Angelina Jolie commits to the role of a self absorbed newscaster who goes through an epiphany when she is told she is going to die. She does a great job and is not afraid to play a common role. I enjoyed the movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review Sean M "I can't get no sat-tis-fac-tion." Prophet Jack predicts the script that we then must walk through— a dethorned thicket of waterlogged roses and wet napkins. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/16/25 Full Review Aye E Very palatable light romantic fare. Angelina's sometimes hard to watch for me but she was solid in this, even if the story was slightly uneven. Good chemistry with her and Ed Burns. More watchable than I expected. Especially since it has such an oddly low score. This doesn't compare to pretty painfully bad movies of the era that scored higher. Maybe it got a bump for me as a Seattleite, it was fun to have a 23 year time warp.
