What to Know

Critics Consensus

Matching up Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins in a battle of wits, Locked is loaded with plenty of clever jolts even if it doesn't quite know where to park its story.

Christy Lemire FilmWeek (LAist) As a genre exercise, I enjoyed it a lot. Mar 28, 2025 Full Review Bob Mondello NPR Filmmaker David Yarovesky and writer Michael Arlen Ross have lots of tricks up their sleeves, including arguments about Marx and Dostoyevsky, not to mention actors who don't need to be in the same space to raise gooseflesh. Mar 22, 2025 Full Review Christian Zilko IndieWire A film like “Locked” lives and dies by its ability to entertain us with images of a man banging on tinted windows for help while he faces the prospect of being hurled off the roof of a parking garage. And on that, it delivers. Rated: C+ Mar 21, 2025 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media A compact, tense movie with only five speaking parts, this effective thriller taps a bit into contemporary cultural divides and social anxiety to make the most of its cat-and-mouse game. Rated: 3/5 Apr 4, 2025 Full Review Chris Sawin Bounding Into Comics Locked isn’t unique if you’ve seen 4×4, but it also goes in unexpected directions. It’s a lot like the Steven Knight-written and directed drama Locke starring Tom Hardy took one of the violently pumping gears out of Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. Rated: 3/5 Apr 4, 2025 Full Review Erik Childress Movie Madness Podcast There is only so much you can do with two unlikable characters in a car despite game actors. Claustrophobia is lost thanks to both spaciousness and fisheyes and the film barely has time to make its case against class warfare. Rated: 2/4 Mar 31, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Jose A Phenomenal Movie, the cast delivered a fantastic performance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/25 Full Review janet Unpredictable, it definitely had us at the edge of our seats! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/02/25 Full Review John H Good premise that is not delivered on. Good acting and makeup. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Kim Boring and slow. No character development. Great premise. Dismal execution. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Kelvin G The story was pretty ridiculous and the ending was kind of anticlimactic. It was just a lot of arguments about morality which then seemed completely unnecessary by the actions that were taken. Honestly surprised that this wasn't a straight to Netflix kind of movie but I guess getting Anthony Hopkins means you can get it in theaters. The actors both did a serviceable job, but the main issue is the actual stakes were never very clear. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Matt B Pretty tense and exciting Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/25 Full Review Read all reviews
