Looper Reviews
Very cool sci fi movie and concept- wish the visuals were more interesting and the concepts were more fleshed out. I was left with many questions about how things worked and most of the setting was fairly dull. Better than alot of garbage that comes out these days anyway.
An exceptionally dumb science fiction movie highlighting the mediocrity of the (inexplicably famous) writer & director Rian Johnson.
With a poor storyline such as this one, there was no way in hell the producers would have agreed to invest, so the writers create a few more characters, (such as a zyear old kid and her mommy to prolong the movie with some emotion/drama) some telekinesis disease (it's like HIV of the 2040s) and more bla bla bla.
Time travel rarely works in films that take themselves too seriously and this film is no exception. As is usually the case, the superficially intellectual plot leads you to think about it enough that you quickly realise how ridiculous and nonsensical it all is. The acting and action is entertaining, but it's ultimately just a cheap thrill as the unconvincing storyline makes the whole thing feel contrived and insubstantial.
En particular, adoro la escena final, se justifican en sí mismo las acciones de los personajes, sin duda de las mejores películas de viajes en el tiempo.
What a movie👌. Mind blowing acting and story.
Good future-action. Felt a bit simple in the beginning but it gets another layer halfway into the movie. Exciting action with more substance than your average blockbuster, but not much more than that.
Looper is a fun ride from start to finish. If you take the movie as is you will have a great time. It has fun lore, interesting time dynamics, and the characters feel real like they aint perfect beings. The time concept as a whole is fun when you take the movie apart by dissecting the plot and the time mechanic then you run into a wall. It's like an interesting premise that does not meet the standard scientific scrutiny which is funny because its a far out there idea.
Great acting, a solid concept, and pretty much everything that sci-fi/action fans want in a movie where they can turn their brain on really put it to work.
An interesting sci-fi action movie! The story seems like a lot of hokum on paper, but it's done in such a clever and compelling way that you will be invested until the end. Well worth watching!
Bastante buena. Su historia es demasiado buena, no es tan enrredosa al tratarse sobre viaje en el tiempo. Sus personajes están bien planeados y los efectos se disfrutan mucho. Es sencilla y entretenida.
Minus one star for Sara trying to save her son from time traveling hitmen. Come on! Nobody raised their hand at a meeting? (At least the boy’s not called John…) Otherwise excellent.
Incredible movie. So many twists and brain f***ks
I can't believe I never saw this movie until now (2024). It was fantastic. I love sci fi and it's rarely done well, this was really done well!
I've watched it a couple times. Very cool concept. Perhaps felt slow at moments but overall it is a very solid movie. Intense and mind bending.
This movie could have been one of the science fiction movies ever had they not fallen into the pitfalls of many high concept movies, beating you over the head with the premise for the first 20 minutes of the movie. Besides that, it is a well acted, piece that has aged well and would recommend a watch.
It's such a great idea for a movie, but it's so poorly executed.
The plot wasn't as rock solid as it could have been, and the movie took a tonal shift towards the middle of the film, but Looper is an intriguing, entertaining film that is definitely worth a rewatch.
a very smart sci-fi movie. great action
A fairly fresh science fiction movie that still tended to lean on some of the lesser of the genre's standards. Had the material been presented a little cleaner this movie could have been an above par story. Unlike many of its counterparts the violence in this movie does not feel gratuitous, but instead pushes the plot.
