Faiz D It beautifully captures loneliness and everything that comes with it., Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review Kevin P A hypnotically sweet and tender movie that's quiet, but grows on you and makes you never want to leave its presence. Such a sweet relationship between Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. They're both two lonely people who finally feel alive again as they strike a connection that feels deeply intimate, one that skirts the line of romantic, but is mostly platonic. They both feel disconnected and troubled with their own marriages that you know they have to return to, but for now can escape with their limited time spent together that you wish could never end. Even when the film ends, you almost want to watch it again so you can still see them together. They both represent two troubled stages of our lives when we don't know what we want to do: the crossroads of our twenties and the mid-life crisis of our forties & fifties. Excellent direction from Sofia Coppola, with such clear visual storytelling that excellently captures the vibrant and unique vistas of Tokyo and the subtle emotions behind the characters' silent expressions. The movie does such an incredible job portraying the quiet sadness of feeling lonely in a crowd, feeling disconnected even with your important colleagues or spouses. Where everyone hears you, but no one is really listening. And then suddenly finding that person who makes you feel comfortable, at home, truly alive. Great cinematography showcasing how different a city and setting can feel depending on how alone you feel or how connected with friends you are. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review Ben L This is Woody Allen’s Manhattan set in Tokyo. An old geezer somehow, oh yeah he has money and power, gets a teenage girl to luv him long time. But unlike Woody the righteous left love this…love this. Pathetic movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Makayla L I can't recommend this movie to any audience knowing that Scarlett Johansson is 17 y/o alongside Bill Murray (53 y/o). Creepy. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Alexandre A An unexpected duo. Bob and Charlotte found themselves in an unknown "world" (Japan, Tokyo) where decoding the language wasn't enough. Both characters are changing throughout the movie, and although it's slow-paced, it's a nice watch; They mold each other in such a short time and then drift apart, a realistic ending when we're far from home. This movie should be watched by Erasmus students abroad. You're in a new place, and try to find similarities that reduce the loneliness felt. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/06/25 Full Review Chorong P Deep emotional connections sometimes, and fortunately, transcend generations. They don’t demand excessive effort, drama, or trivial conversation—ironically, all elements often considered essential for forming bonds. To be able to understand this movie, I feel very much lucky. loved the movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
